Celebrating our moms

How was your Mother’s Day Weekend? I know this can be a tough day for many women, and I hope that you feel celebrated no matter which stage of life you are in. And, to all the moms, grandmothers, mother-in-laws and the women in our lives who have supported us like moms: thank you.

Since my mom is in California, we sent her a little something in the mail, and we enjoyed catching up over the phone. That picture was taken on my wedding day, and is a perfect example of how my mom has always been there for some of life’s biggest moments – and the small ones in between.

And, while this photo is blurry, there’s my mom cheering me on at the finish line of the Chevron Houston Marathon. She’s always shown up for me and made me feel like anything was possible. I certainly wish my family was closer so we could share even more special moments together, and trust me when I say that Aaron and I are always trying to put that thought on their radar.

I am also very lucky to have the best mother-in-law. We also sent her a little something in the mail and caught up over the phone today, and we hope to make it to Belton for a long weekend in the near future. You hear all of these horror stories about mother-in-laws, and I’m so thankful to have one who is caring and understanding. (And, I really love the fact that she’s never pushed for grandkids). She’s always up for an adventure, and we always have the best time when we are together.

Aaron and I started the day off by going to church. Our pastor has been in the book of Revelation, which isn’t necessarily the most joyful message for Mother’s Day, but he was able to tie it all together today. We are in Revelations 22.

Then, I have something fun coming up, so I needed to go to Athleta to buy some new gear. I have some Athleta leggings, and I love them. The quality is amazing – and I put my workout clothes through some wear and tear. Running, cycling, weight lifting – you name it, and my leggings have been through it.

I love that they have so many different size options, and I’ve found the fit of their clothes to be very flattering. Bonus: they have petite sizes, and for a shorty like me (I’m 5’1″), that’s a big deal.

I was trying on the regular tennis skirts, and they come in your standard black and white. The saleslady suggested that I might be able to fit into the girls tennis skirts, and they had more options. She brought me a couple to try on, and sure enough, they fit nicely (and aren’t too short). The camo skirt in the photo above is from their “Athleta girls” collection, but I thought it was a fun option. I also purchased that tank top and a white tennis skirt.

We had to test my skirt out, so Aaron and I headed out for a walk to end out our evening. We hadn’t been up on the trail in a while, and while it was a tad humid, it sure was nice and pretty out. A great week to end the weekend.

So, I hope you all have a wonderful week. I don’t know you, but I”m counting down the days until a long, Memorial Day Weekend,
