Fourth of July Weekend Recap

Houston Fourth of July

Happy Tuesday – I’m back at work after my long, Fourth of July weekend. I guess I *kind* of feel relaxed, although I’ve also been going a million miles an hour since Friday. So, I figured I’d share what we were up to this weekend.

Friday

outside workout

I started my day off with a little workout outside. It’s been raining a ton here in Houston, and Friday was the first day without rain in a couple of weeks.

After that, I had lunch with a girlfriend at Hungry’s. I had the chicken salad sandwich with their black bean orzo salad. Always a win.

Costco Haul

And, after that, I had to do a major Costco haul to pick up some items for my Fourth of July party. It had been awhile since I had been at Costco, and I almost walked out of there with two carts. I’ll have to share what all I got at some point.

After I made it home and unloaded our groceries, Cali discovered that tug of war with the big dog (Buttercup) is way more fun than tug with her little bro’.

Aaron and I decided to head on over to Studio Movie Grill to see Cruella on Friday evening. 101 Dalmatians is one of my favorite Disney movies, and I loved Cruella. If you haven’t seen it yet, there is a special scene once the credits begin rolling at the end.

Saturday

I can’t say that I really slept in on Saturday – the pups get us up at 5:30 to go out to the bathroom. After that, they think it’s playtime. We are trying to work on getting them to go back to sleep. Luckily, my husband normally gets up at 5:30 to start working.

Once I had my coffee, Aaron and I grabbed some breakfast tacos at Luchi and Joey’s. If you’ve never been, I think they have some of the best breakfast tacos in Houston.

And, I headed over to finish my shopping at H-E-B.

After I got finished at the grocery store, I needed to start prepping some of my snacks for the party. I’ll share some of my quick and easy favorites in tomorrow’s post.

Before | pool

Aaron was getting our yard nice and ready, so I had to call our pool guy to come out to do a quick clean because so much grass made it in. If you are in the Houston area, Walter, with King Pool Services, is amazing.

We wrapped up our Saturday evening at Candelari’s with a friend. It used to be one of our favorite spots for date night when we lived in the Med Center, and it was as good as I remember.

Sunday

We started Sunday morning off with these cute little faces.

And then, we were on the go that entire day. I covered up all of my outdoor furniture because it had been raining so much in Houston. So, I had to begin the process of uncovering everything, which takes awhile. It’s mostly set up in the photo above, I just needed to put my outdoor cushions on everything.

And here’s a photo of some of the spread. And, here’s the thing. I kind of failed ya’ll after that. In between welcoming our guests- and being in and out of the pool, I don’t have any more photos from that day 🙂

But, know that we did end up getting rained on, so we moved our party inside and played some games. It was so fun seeing our friends together under one roof, and I’m so glad our house was mostly put back together so we were able to host without holes in our walls.

The puppies behaved themselves wonderfully around all our guests, and they didn’t have any accidents.

Monday

bora bora nails

And, since I had yesterday off, I had a super important nail appointment I needed to get to. I’m usually not a big “getting my nails done” type of gal, but it’s become a fun thing for me to do with Alice, my friend’s mom who is living in Houston temporarily. She loves to get out – and I’m happy to oblige.

I went to Bora Bora, and I went with a regular manicure and pedicure in “Funny Bunny,” a nice, summer white.

And today, well, I’m back at it!!!! Fingers crossed it stops raining so I can have a tennis lesson tonight.
