Friday Favorites + Quick Homemade Guac Recipe

We made it to Friday! I’m feeling more and more settled in our home every day and am almost through most of our boxes. That’s something to celebrate.

I’ve been on a matcha kick lately. I took a trip to Japan last year, which I’ll need to recap because it was the trip of a lifetime. It’s going to be a day by day Japan guide because each day was packed with different activities. I picked up some matcha, and it’s been an afternoon ritual of mine ever since.

We are having a couple friends over to the house on Sunday now that it’s finally unpacked. They are vegan, so I have been looking for some easy, vegan recipes that don’t require a ton of ingredients. Anyone else get lost when recipes list a billion ingredients? I found this recipe for an almond herb vegan cheese spread, and I’m going to give it a shot. Also on the menu: some vegan sausages, my famous guac and some twice baked sweet potatoes (dairy free).

Quick Homemade Guac Recipe

  • 3-4 large avocados
  • 2 tomatoes (omit if you aren’t a tomato fan)
  • 1/4 of a purple onion
  • 1/4 cup of canned jalapeno slices (omit if you don’t like spicy)
  • juice of 1 lime
  • a dash of Everything But the Bagel seasoning (from Trader Joes)
  • salt and pepper to taste

We also plan to celebrate the new house with some champs! We have some awesome friends who keep bringing champagne as a house warming gift.

We bought this rug from World Market for our living room. With two big dogs, we needed something that could stand up to all of their wear and tear. So far, so good.

I forgot to introduce you to a member of our family. We actually have a hamster named “Vonks.” We’ve had her since last Christmas. She is a russian dwarf hamster, and she’s a happy little thing.

I’ve gone down an organization road with the new house. Admittedly, I’m not the most organized person, but I’m trying to be better. So, I’ll be checking out some organization items for my bathroom this weekend. Stay tuned.

Hope you all have a happy weekend!
