Friday Favorites + Vday Weekend

Smallwood home

Happy Friday, friends. I’m sitting here at my desk with a nice cup of Nespresso (the caramel cookie flavor because I’m an adult), and I’ve got my greek yogurt with some fresh figs. I’m feeling good because that big project I mentioned earlier this week? Well, it will be finished today whether I like it or not. I’m about to dig in and knock it out. It’s in an okay spot, but it needs some fine tuning before it’s finished. What’s the big project? Well, it’s for a really fun event planned at the end of March that I’ll tell you about soon.

I’ve had some favorites in my week this week, and of course, my first favorite has been watching the Winter Olympics. So many great stories have come out of the Olympics, but my favorite might be Shaun White. He and I are the same age, and I’ve grown up watching him rise to Olympic fame. Proud of him. I’m sad to see him retire, but I know he’s got great things ahead. He made the U.S. so proud. I also love the story about his physical therapist who is currently battling stage IV pancreatic cancer. Their bond is so special, and I’m a fan of them both.

Tennis

Mariam and I didn’t have an official tennis lesson this week because our instructor couldn’t make it. But, she and I decided to get together to practice anyways. It turned into more of a chatting session, followed up by some Jenni’s ice cream after we were done. If you have a Jenni’s by you, the honey vanilla bean is my favorite.

Spud Walks

I’m so glad that it’s staying lighter out later. I can’t wait until we have an official time change in a couple of weeks. But, Aaron and I have been taking full advantage of it by taking the Spuds on some longer walks!

Speaking of Spuds….. they have been “helping” me work all week. They have made appearances in more Zoom meetings that everyone knows how to tell them apart. I’m researching some training options for them here in Houston in the near future. We need to do a class and possibly a few one on one sessions.

Artwork

Smallwood home

I’ve ordered a few things from Smallwood Home in the past, and I’ve always been happy with my purchases. They used to do a lot of those wooden word signs, but in the last several years, they have really added more options for framing and printing photos. I have been wanting a gallery wall in my living room, and I knew I wanted to use some of the professional photos of the dogs that we had done in October because they are adorable. I loved these beautiful acrylic-framed prints, so I ordered those for my gallery wall. Two of them arrived this week, and I’m waiting on two more to come this weekend. They are 25×25, and I can’t wait to see what they look like on my wall!

Workouts

peloton

I’ve done a lot of Peloton treadmill running this week. I’ve been trying out some of the progression and endurance runs as I train for our upcoming half marathon. And, I think they are really helping me with speed. While speed isn’t my goal for the half marathon, increasing my typical pace is. And, a less than 9 minute miles puts me in a good spot to do that. When it warms up and stays lighter out later, I’ll be happy to take some of these runs outside as well!

Snacks

parm crisps

I’ve been head down at my computer this week, and I like to have a tasty, healthy snack near by. I picked these up at Costco this past weekend, and they are so good. They have 10 grams of protein, and it’s jut almonds, pistachios, cashews and parmesan crisps. This snack is a favorite that I’ll be adding in to my rotation.

Vday

Valentine's Day 2020

Did you catch my Valentine’s Day post on Wednesday? I shared some ideas for a low-key Valentine’s Day. And, Aaron and I still don’t have any big plans, which I’m totally okay with!

And, I have some favorite things planned for the weekend ahead. I’ve got a birthday dinner for one of my friends on Friday, and we’ve got a wedding shower on Saturday. And, of course, the Super Bowl on Sunday.

Happy Weekending, friends.
