Friday Things: Disney, a massage and a run

Happy Friday! I am so looking forward to the weekend because it has been quite the week. Next week will be super busy, and I’m just hoping to check some more things off my work to-do list today. If we can make it through our annual Board of Visitors meeting next Friday, things should calm down a bit.

On another note, Aaron and I booked a Halloween Disney Cruise on a whim with some friends back in January. I had never been on one, and our friends have two little kids who I love – so we all decided we would go. And, this was the week we were supposed be cruising and enjoying Halloween on the High Seas. But, the upside, is that now we have a bit more time to plan and research. I’m not a Disneyland newbie, but I’m definitely not familiar with Disney cruises. The above photo is Aaron and I at Disneyland a couple of years ago when we went to visit my parents. Here’s to 2021!

I’m still trying to figure out what to do about Halloween in the new neighborhood. Are ya’ll passing out candy? Doing separate treat bags so kids can grab and go? It’s such a strange year, and I want to meet some more of our new neighbors.

Massage heights

I had the best desk chair in my office down in the medical center. It was one of those that was designed specifically for my height and desk. It was glorious – especially since I spend a lot of my day in front of a computer screen. Since we’ve been working from home, I’ve claimed multiple work stations around my house including the dining room table, the island in my former kitchen and my desk. None of those have chairs that are compatible for working and sitting long hours every day. That being said, my back is killing me. I finally had enough yesterday and called to book a massage – because- why not? My appointment was a 7 p.m. last night, and I had the masseuse just work on the right side of my back, which has been the pain point. And it.was.wonderful. 100% I would highly recommend booking a last minute massage. #selfcare is the new buzzword after all.

Houston running

And, we finally had a true cold front roll through Houston, and it looks like we are in for a week or two of the best weather! It was 48 when I woke up this morning, and it’s going to warm up to the upper 60s. Perfect weather in my book. I took advantage yesterday and got out to run three glorious miles on the trails behind my house.

Golden Retriever

My “golden boy” loves that I’m working from home. If there’s any silver lining to 2020, is that I have more time to spend with my oldie goldie. He’s the best! He also loves taking trips to Starbucks for a puppy whip!

And finally, this weekend we get to add an hour onto our days this weekend. I don’t love when it gets darker out earlier – especially since I start wrapping up work around 5:30 or 6ish each evening. But, the bright side is that I’ll already be home so we can get the dogs on a walk while it’s not completely dark. I’ll be back next week with some first-time home buying tips, a little getaway that we took for our anniversary this year and some house progress!

Happy weekending!
