My friend, Kim, texted me and our friend Katie, one day because she found a restaurant that did Goat Yoga on their patio. We signed up for a Saturday morning class.

I wore what I would typically wear to any yoga class – and went in with the expectation that we probably wouldn’t be doing a ton of actual yoga. Her husband, Aaron, was in charge of taking the photos for the day 🙂 This is where husbands can come in handy. We went during a weekend in the Fall, so it started cooling down.

Once you signed in, you are able to rent a yoga mat. You can bring your own, but you might not want to. Once they let the goats loose, it’s kind of a free-for-all, and they were going to the bathroom on the mats! It wasn’t a big deal because you could just flip your mat over – or shake them off, but it’s just something I didn’t think about before.

These goats were the little pygmy goats, and they were adorable. They chew on everything, so leave any valuables at home. The goats were going after shoelaces and bags, so just don’t bring anything you wouldn’t mind a goat chewing! They were pretty friendly, so they would come over for pets and hang out on the mats with you.

The instructor did teach some yoga. But, I was too distracted by the goats to do a ton of yoga. They kind of wander under you – and around you while you are doing some of these poses. It’s totally doable if you’ve never done a yoga class before.

The instructor is a certified yoga instructor, and she was great. Her goats were incredibly well cared for – and they seemed super happy to be participating in Goat Yoga. My favorite part of the class is when they let the goats run on top of you.

Basically, they have everyone line up right next to each other on your hands and knees – and they let the goats run across your back. The goats are pretty light, so it doesn’t hurt at all!

There were probably about 20 goats in our class. And, the class had about 20 people. There were kids and adults, and everyone had a great time. They offer photo ops at the end of the class, so you can stick around and take photos with your favorite goats.

So, if you are ever in Houston – or the great Houston area, you can sign up for a class. This is the company we used, and I’m thinking about inviting some friends to do goat yoga again in the near future.
