Hello Monday + Weekend Things

Satori salon

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Aaron has been out of town on business since Thursday, so I’ve been flying solo. And, while I was bummed I had to miss out on this trip, I had some things that needed to get done in Houston. On Friday, I had two contractors lined up to come to house to give up a quote to start repairing the rest of the damage from the February freeze. And yes, we still have holes in our walls.

But, I had two contractors who are recommendations from a friend come out to bid the job. We are doing a couple of extra projects as well while we have some people in the house. I’m thinking we will really get started within the next week or so. While I was getting bids, Aaron was out fishing and finding manatees.

Kira Stokes | 21-day challenge

After work and the contractors came on Friday, I got a workout in. It was raining on and off, so I did a Kira Stokes workout. I’m currently doing her 21-day challenge, and it’s been a great way to switch up my fitness routine before we head to Mexico!

Then, I took my friend’s mom, Alice, out to one of our favorite Tex Mex spots for dinner. We had ourselves a great little time, and it was such a fun way to kick off the weekend.

Saturday

After waking up bright and early Saturday morning (I never really sleep all that well when my husband is out of town), because I had a hair appointment with Rocco. Houston ladies: Rocco is awesome. I’ve been going to him for several years, and he’s the only person in Texas who I will trust with my hair. We decided to switch it up a bit with a cut and a bit of a new color.

I haven’t done anything fun with my hair lately because I’ve been working from home, but I was ready for some fresh color. Rocco did an amazing job, and I love the lighter color for the summer.

rice loop

After I was finished with my hair, I met my friend Andy to walk around Rice University. It’s about a 3-mile loop, and we both agreed that would be our workout for the day. Walking the Rice loop is one of my favorite ways to catch up with my friends. I wore my new tennis skirt to test it out before I start my lessons this week (hopefully the weather will hold up).

vincent's

Alice and I had so much fun at dinner on Friday, I wanted to take her to one of my favorite dinner spots in Houston. She’s only here for a short while longer, so she needed to try the Vincent’s, Nino’s and Grappino’s restaurant experience. I picked her up, and she had the lasagna!!! The lasagna is my husband’s favorite dish when we go there, so I took a photo of Alice with her lasagna and sent it to Aaron. Vincent’s is still closed, but Nino’s is open, and the menu is relatively the same. I had the mezzaluna, which is one of my favorite dishes when we go there. It’s filled with chicken and cheese.

Sunday

I woke up and made some of my favorite Nespresso on Sunday morning. And, as soon as I sat down to enjoy my coffee, it started pouring outside.

I turned church on to watch the virtual service before I headed out to run some errands. I was hoping that the rain my taper out before I had to go out, but unfortunately, it was a soggy afternoon.

Next, I ran to Target first to grab a couple of things like a birthday card for my sister, some plant food and couple of things for our upcoming trip.

Costco haul

Next, I headed to Costco, which was a long overdue trip. But, trying to load your car while it’s pouring is not my favorite thing to do. After Costco, I hopped across the street to H-E-B to do my grocery shopping for the week. One the menu:

  • Chicken enchiladas
  • Zucchini boats
  • Salmon and veggies
  • Crockpot BBQ chicken

Finally, I headed home, and got a workout in before Aaron got back home! I’m still loving our garage gym!!!

We’ve added a few more items, so I’ll have to go through a do a tour of the gym in the very near future. I hope that you all have a wonderful week!
