Happy July 1 – Sentence or two per picture

Lake Conroe

How have we already made it to July? figured it might be fun to share some photos and give ya’ll a sentence (or two) per picture. I feel like the last couple of months have been a blur with our trip to Mexico, the puppies and our house repairs. I’m prepping for a small 4th of July get together this weekend, so I have a nice little four day weekend! Today is technically my Friday, but I’ll be blogging tomorrow. Aaron and I usually take a trip in August to celebrate our anniversary, but this year, we don’t have any plans on the books (because puppies and work). And, if I’m being honest, it feels kind of nice. After everything we’ve been through this year, it’s nice to just stay at home – and be content in our newly put together house.

On my agenda today is wrapping up a ton of – you guessed it – work. I am planning a virtual fundraiser for a friend a bit later this summer, so I’ve been trying to find time to dig into that project as well. After reviewing my schedule for the remainder of this calendar year, I’ve got some big projects ahead, including an 80th anniversary celebration, so I think it’s safe to say that I won’t be slowing down any time soon. So, enjoy my photo Thursday!!!!

Houston tennis lesson

I was able to sneak away for a tennis lesson on Monday with my friend and our coach. We went for two hours, and being sore the next day was an understatement. You really use muscles in different ways, so my arms and back were hurting.

My team. Aaron and I are so lucky to have some of the best friends in our lives. We call ourselves “the team.” We’ve all come to each other at different points in our lives, which I’ll have share about in another post, but I sure am glad to have them in our corner. Life can be equal parts hard – and equal part beautiful – and having friends who support you and love you is everything.

Special delivery

tiff's treats

The special delivery arrived on my doorstep earlier this week. Someone from work sent them to me for a project I did awhile back. It was a sweet treat that Aaron and I thoroughly enjoyed.

Any white wine lovers?

vinho verde

I have a friend who is a sommelier. And, if you’ve been on here for any amount of time, you know that I don’t love white wines. I’m a red wine kinda gal. But, red wine and Houston summer’s by the pool don’t really mix. So, I asked her to recommend a white that I might like. This Broadbent Vinho Verde is less than $10 and delicious. Give it a try.

Gomez family pups

Houston golden retrievers

Technically, this is two photos. If I’m being honest, I was worried that getting two new puppies so soon after Sawyer died, that I would somehow be replacing him. Now that I’m a couple of weeks into having the puppies, I realize that Sawyer’s memory will live on in my heart forever. He was such a big part of our family, that he won’t ever be forgotten. The puppies have completely different personalities, and we are equally as in love with them, and I can’t wait to create new memories. I love having Sawyer’s memorial rock to remember him by!

And, if you’ve ever owned a golden retriever, you know they are something special – especially as they get older. They are just the best companions!

If you missed my before and after office renovation from earlier this week, you can read it here. I plan to talk about many of our other repairs next week.
