Second COVID-19 Vaccine + Valentine’s Days in Years Past

Happy Friday ya’ll. Remember this gorgeous weather Houston was having earlier this week? When Aaron and I were spending our evenings outside?

Houston weather

Yeah – that didn’t last long. This weekend we are in for some cold weather, and we might even get some snow on Monday. I would love to see some snow, but meanwhile, we are prepping the new house for this cold weather. We had to set our pool to the winter setting, wrap our pipes, and this afternoon, we are wrapping and covering our fruit trees.

fireplace

We’ve had the fire going all morning so far. How does that saying go: you can take the girl out of California…but you can’t take the California… well, you get the point. There are so many things I love about Texas, and, for the last 17 years, it’s been home. However, I’ve never gotten used to the cold (and it doesn’t ever really get super cold here). But, when you are more of a 60 degree and 70 degree-weather loving girl, the 30s and 40s can be a tad shocking. Luckily, our cold front will be relatively short lived, and we should start warming up again by the end of next week.

COVID-19 Vaccine

Later today, I’m headed out to get my second dose of the COVID-19 Pfizer vaccine. You can read about my experience with the first dose here. I’ve had some friends experience some more side effects with the second dose, so fingers crossed all goes well. I’ll share more about my experience on Monday with the second dose.

Valentine’s Day Plans

Aaron and I had some fun plans to do a cooking class with two of our friends on Saturday. It was going to be outside (and, well, just read my note above about the bad weather headed our way), and it got cancelled this morning. So, the four of us are still getting together, but we are cooking ourselves. I’m making some buffalo chicken dip, which I’ll share next week – and bringing some adult beverages.

Aaron and I have something fun planned to celebrate on Sunday – nothing extravagant, but it can be fun to switch up the routine a bit. Last year, we really had a nice V-day.

Valentine's Day 2020

I don’t love going out to dinner on Valentine’s because it’s super crowded – and overpriced, and I just don’t love it. So, we always try to do something fun (for us). We don’t do gifts for Valentine’s Day, but Aaron is so sweet and always gets me flowers, and we both exchange cards. I woke up to some flowers and a card last year.

And, last year, we decided to order the heart-shaped pizza from Pink’s. We paired the pizza with some of our favorite champagne that we drank out of our wedding flutes.

It was pizza, but we made it fancy 🙂

Valentine’s Day weekend always brings back great memories. It was the weekend we flew our wedding photographer out in 2016, to take our engagement photos. We had the best weekend, and he really gave us some memorable photos that I still love to this day. Yes, our dogs were in the photos. No, they were not behaved. But, this photo pretty much captures the crazy perfectly: Sawyer always loves to be right next to me, and Buttercup is our crazy girl!

I’m off to get my vaccine, but have a wonderful Friday, and a wonderful Valentine’s weekend – no matter what your plans are.
