Weekend Digest: Bridesmaid Edition

bridesmaids

Happy Monday to all – I hope you had a wonderful weekend. Ours was fab, and it all started off with a really good Friday. I’ve talked a lot about the pros and cons of working from home. One of the cons is physically missing people in the office – it can certainly be a bit isolating at times. But, one of the benefits of working from home is the flexibility to make purposeful plans with colleagues and people in your network. It’s something that I’ve had to be really intentional about over these last two years, and I’m always so glad that I did.

Friday

Top Gun: Maverick (2022) - IMDb

So, on Friday, I had a lunch meeting on my calendar with a friend in my network who I haven’t seen since before COVID. Evan is in the same field I’m in, and I think incredibly highly of his skillset – and his insights into the industry. We decided to meet at Local Foods for lunch and to catch up. It was a great conversation, and we are going to try to make it more of a frequent thing. It was a also a great reminder to reach out to some of the others in my network who I just haven’t seen in awhile because we don’t cross paths as much as we did when I was in the Medical Center.

date night

I finished my work day back at my home office, got a quick outdoor yoga session in while my Spuds went for a swim, and then, Aaron and I did a little date night to go see the new Top Gun. Ya’ll – this might come as a shocker to you, but I can’t say that I’ve ever officially seen the first Top Gun. But, as someone who was a bit skeptical going in – I thought this movie was fantastic. One of the best movies I’ve seen in a long long time. I liked it so much that the original Top Gun is at the top of my list.

Saturday

tex

I started my Saturday morning off fast and furious. I had lots of things that needed to be done before my hair appointment in the afternoon. We had our yard guy come – and asked him to work on a bit of a special project (I needed the area behind my garage cleared), so we can swap out our garage AC with a new one later this week. While he was busy, I walked the dogs – and that was Tex’s face after his walk.

nepsresso

We received a new Nespresso shipment, so you already know it was a good day! The new Papua New Guinea blend was calling my name, and I can confirm that it is delicious.

peloton

After that, I hopped on the Peloton for a quick 30-minute run. I think it’s so neat they are letting a few people take Peloton classes in person – it’s neat to see them on the live runs!

smoothie king

I grabbed a protein smoothie after my run real quick (anyone else on the Peanut Power Plus with cocoa train?). It’s my favorite because it’s packed with protein – and it doesn’t have any added sugar. It also has bananas, dates and peanut butter.

Then, I was off to my hair appointment. My hair has gotten incredibly long over the last several months. Here was a pic that shows how long it was.

hair

I spent a couple of hours with Rocco, and I basically let him do whatever he wanted. He took about six inches off, and we refreshed my color. I love my new cut, and it will be back to a longer length come December (I’m in a wedding – and will need it to be a bit longer).

hair

I wish I could say that the rest of my Saturday went smoothly, but it did not. Walking the dogs – and going for a run (even though it was in my garage) in the HOuston heat – didn’t do me any favors. I started getting a bad headache while Rocco was doing my hair, and by the time I made it back home – it was almost a migraine. I took some meds – and made myself a couch potato for the rest of the evening before it turned into a full fledged migraine. You can read all about my migraine journey here, and while my headache Saturday night was discouraging (I haven’t had a headache that bad in forever), it wasn’t a migraine. So, I’m still hopeful that I can be migraine-med free.

Sunday

I woke up Sunday morning and hopped over to pick up some treats for a little party I was going to – it was a bridesmaids dress “trying on” party.

bridesmaids

I was asked to be a bridesmaid (officially) with this cute little set up! This is a cute way to ask your wedding party, ladies! You can also customize the wine for those who don’t drink reds!

bridesmaids

And, we tried on sample sizes of bridesmaids dresses. The bride – one of my besties – is going with different dresses for each bridesmaid, and the company she is using sends out samples for a small fee so you can choose the right size and style!

That about summed up my weekend! This week I’ve got a fun thing to knock off my plate: officially planning my husband’s birthday…..
