I thought it would be fun to take it way back – and recap my 2016 trip to Puerto Vallarta. Aaron and I have a trip scheduled to Mexico in June, and we’ve started researching some fun activities to do. And, since I recently picked blogging back up again, you guys have never heard about my Bachelorette party. So, here we go (this is probably going to be a two-three part post because we did alll the fun things).
Puerto Vallarta, Mexico
How did we decide on Mexico? Well, by the time I got married, all of my friends had jobs, and we had done all of the typical Texas Bachelorette parties. We wanted to go somewhere new, and somewhere that everyone wanted to go. So, Mexico it was. Seven of us went on the trip – five of my girlfriends from Houston, and two of cousins from California. We had THE best time. We flew in on a Friday morning, had some cocktails on the plane, and we were ready for a good time. Luckily, my cousins flying in from California, scheduled their flight so we would all get in around the same time. We all met in the Puerto Vallarta airport.
Ya’ll, when I say I have some of the best girlfriends, I really mean it. I’ve known most of these girls since our freshman year in college, and we’ve been through engagements, weddings, babies – and life together. We’ve seen each other through some high highs, and low lows. And, they were nice enough to spoil me on my bachelorette weekend.
We had a van pick all 7 of us from the airport, and we arrived at our hotel: Secrets Puerto Vallarta. They met us with some margaritas as soon as we arrived. That photo above is the lobby of the hotel – absolutely gorgeous.
We got checked in to our rooms (we were able to share two rooms), and we headed straight to lunch and then the pool. We had a fabulous view from our room. It overlooked the pools and you had an ocean-view. Since the resort is all-inclusive, all of our meals were paid for, along with our beverages.
The Rooms
The rooms were amazing. They were huge and airy. You had a great view, but the best part, was really the tub/shower area. We had two rooms, with two queen beds in each room. We all knew each other, so we didn’t mind sharing.
The grounds
There were three pools. One had a swim-up bar, and it led to a smaller pool. The other pool was larger, and it was where they did all of the pool activities.
We all had matching bachelorette sunglasses, so it was super fun! Here’s part of the group with our matching sunnies.
They had cabanas set up on the beach that you could rent if you wanted to:
We stayed to watch the sunset, and then, we set off for dinner at one of the on-site restaurants.
Here’s another pic of our fun group:
Night one
We wanted to keep the evening low key, so my friends threw me a lingerie shower our first night there. It was the best time. We had lots of girl talk, lots of laughing – and lots of lingerie.
My bestie packed all of this decor in her suitcase and decorated the room while we were getting ready for dinner!
They did fun balloons – and fun decorations! The best.
I am pretty sure we stayed up talking forever. Room service midnight snacks were ordered, and we just had the best time. Day two was our excursion day, which I’ll recap tomorrow! I can’t wait to go back!
