We made it ya’ll! Happy Friday. This week absolutely flew by before I could blink. I’m here drinking my cup of coffee and trying to figure out how much I can squeeze into my Friday.
I bought some of the Starbuck’s Vertuo pods for the Nespresso, and they are actually quite good.
Day in the Life
If you didn’t read my post on Wednesday, I did a “Day in life” for when I travel for work. I can’t believe that it’s already been a week since the Dallas event.
Running
I’ve got just under two months until I run the half marathon in Nashville. So, I decided that I better get off the treadmill and outside. The weather this week has been phenomenal. Kind of – and I’ll get to that in a second. So, I got away from desk on Monday, and I hit the trails for a 5K. I was aiming for negative splits at the end, but I was not particular trying to run a certain pace. I was able to hit those negative splits – and I felt great at the end of it.
House Update
The beginning of the week started off cold. And, when I woke up Monday morning, our heater wasn’t working. I thought it might have been a thermostat issue, but I put a call in to our home warranty, and they sent someone out on Wednesday (I still have mixed reviews on this whole Home Warranty thing). Turns out, one tiny little wire connected to our heater was damaged. By. A. Critter. The guy thinks mouse, but it could also be a squirrel – or you know… a larger mouse. So, that didn’t make me feel fabulous, and I put Aaron to work on figuring out this whole critter situations. I can do lots of things around the house, but I draw the line at critters.
Voting
Did ya’ll vote in the primary elections this week? Aaron and I did. I kept trying to make it to early voting, but it didn’t work out. So, we found ourselves in the voting line around 6 p.m. on election day. The line was moving slowly because we had a new voting system, and we weren’t out of there until 7:30. My county is in need of some changes, so voting is more important than ever. I’ll be back at the polls in November!
Spring Weather
I feel like the weather gods might punish me if I put this in writing. But, I think that Winter might officially be on the way out. We’ve had some afternoons in the 70s, and it’s felt amazing. I don’t want to get too far ahead of myself, but we usually don’t have any big cold spells in March. So, fingers crossed. I don’t know if I’ve ever told ya’ll this, But, we gave away succulents as wedding favors five years ago. My florist also incorporated succulents into my wedding bouquet. I still have some of my succulents out in my backyard. I make sure I put them into my garage during the winter, and I put them back out when the weather turns warmer.
I need to trim them back, but they grew a lot taller, and one of them looks like it might give me some flowers.
Spuds
And finally, would it be a Friday Favorites without the Spuds? They needed baths. Since it was warmer out in the evening, Aaron and I stuck them out back to give them a little bath. They haven’t had their first official groom yet, and their fur is really getting long. I’m planning to use a mobile groomer to come to the house so Aaron and I can be close by if they get stressed.
