Friday Favorites + J Crew Haul

Happy Friday! I have the pre-race jitters today – and my half marathon is tomorrow. It’s supposed to be hot, but that’s no problem because I ran my 10-mile training run in the heat and humidity. I’m looking forward to getting back out there again and meeting up with our friends in Nashville. We have some fun things planned before and after the race. I’ve had some favorites this week, so why don’t I just get right into it?

Peloton

peloton

This is my first time using my Peloton – or any type of treadmill for that matter – to supplement race training. I really have some wonderful things to say about the Peloton. I love that their instructors on the Tread – are real distance runners themselves. They are the real deal – so I’ve made sure to focus on many of their classes like endurance runs and progression runs. Wednesday night, I pushed myself and finished first in the class (not a live class), and I love having that competitive aspect to keep me motivated.

My Spuds are turning one next week, and I can’t believe how far we’ve come! I still look back to this time last year. We had just lost Sawyer, and Buttercup (our lab), was declining as well. It was a really hard time for our family. And, looking forward to bringing home these precious pups really helped put a smile back on my face. Tex was 60 pounds when we weighed him a couple of weeks ago, and Cali was 55! So, they are much larger than the itty bitty pups we brought home.

Pre-race fuel

breakfast

I’ve said this many times before, but nutrition leading up to and during a race can make all the difference. For me personally, fueling my body the right way has allowed me to cut back on some of the headaches I get. So, this week, I’ve focused on finding creative ways to sneak protein into my meals throughout the day.

These yogurt bowls have are so delicious in the mornings. I use the whole fat Stonyfield organic greek yogurt, mixed with Autumn’s Gold grain free granola and a fruit (I had frozen cherries in this one).

chicken enchiladas

For dinner, I pulled some of my crockpot salsa chicken (boneless skinless chicken breasts, can of salsa, can of corn, can of black beans and can of diced green chilies) out of the freezer – and turned it into enchiladas. So delicious.

avocado turkey burgers

I’ve also made my turkey avocado burgers with sweet potato fries!

Work

I figured I’d give you a quick update on work – I’ve been doing a fun little work-related activity this week that I can’t wait to share about soon. I”m also working on an event that will held at the end of April and more. Luckily, things are a bit more manageable these days!

J Crew Haul

And, one of my most favorite things this week was getting my J Crew order in. It was time to pick out some general staples outside of my athleisure wear! I needed another new pair of jeans – and just a bit of a refresh. So, when I saw J Crew was having a 70% off sale, I decided to put a few items in my cart. I love a good sale!

Jeans are hard for me. I’m petite – like I’m talking 5’1″ – so I really need to try jeans on in the store. But, by the time I added this pair to my cart – and added the 70% off, they were about $18. So, I figured I could donate if they just didn’t work out. Ironically, they fit perfectly. That almost never happens. They are the right length – and fit great.

So, if you are a shorty like I am, I got the 25P. I also bought that shirt I’m wearing in the photo above. I’ve been seeing these striped shirts – and figured I needed one if I needed to dress up a Zoom call!

I also grabbed this cute dress, which will be perfect for church – brunch – summer….. along with that gold necklace!

And finally, my earrings arrived. These will be cute to wear on the daily! I’ve got another couple of dresses headed my way in another shipment, and I can’t wait to add them to my summer rotation. They aren’t doing 70% off anymore, but it looks like they have 60% off certain styles.

That’s all I’ve got for you today! I’d appreciate good thoughts, prayers and vibes for a safe and successful race this weekend. I know it won’t be a PR, but I’m proud of myself for getting back out there during a busy season of life to make it happen! If I can do it, so can you!
