Happy Friday all. I’m here today with my Friday Favorites – out of office edition. I’ll share more about our little getaway next week, but for now, I am counting my blessings that I am able to take time off to relax – and step away from my computer screen for a bit. Any guesses on how many emails I”ll have waiting for me in my inbox on Monday? Let’s just not think about that.
Family getaways are always a favorite of mine. Aaron and I love traveling with our closest friends. We’ve made some of the best memories. But, it’s also super important that the two of us do some traveling too. Last year, we went to Rockport (part I and part II) for our anniversary, which was a new-to-me city in Texas. It was the perfect little COVID getaway, and we always love being near or out on the water. I’m actually trying to find a time we can go back possibly for a long weekend. My in-laws want to go, and I think they would love it.
I loved not having an agenda this week. Sleeping in might be my number one guilty pleasure, and I’m lucky that Aaron doesn’t mind letting me sleep in a little. I’ve loved sleeping in a bit later than usual, taking time in the mornings to enjoy my cup of coffee and have a bit of quiet time. I had things on my list that I wanted to accomplish this week, but I took my time getting those done and made my way through my to do list however I wanted.
One of the things on that to do list I just mentioned, was spending some time with the dogs. Don’t get me wrong, I spend tons of time with them each and every day, but I’m working. So, my attention is split. It was so much fun to just get to spend some one on one time with them. I got their last set of shots taken care of, so we are starting some short walks. They are just the sweetest little things!
Catching up on my reading
I have been slacking on my reading this year. I normally love to sit down and read, but my work schedule has had me not wanting to add another to-do on my list. But, this week, I was able to make a list of books I want to read, think about starting a book club with some girlfriends – and download a book to read. Currently reading: It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover.
Lunch with friends
One of the things I miss the most about working out of my office in the medical center is the impromptu lunches with co-workers. So, I made it a point to schedule a lunch with a friend this week – where I could take all the time in the world (and have a glass of wine).
You must think I’m crazy if I didn’t get any pool time in. I sure did, and it made me a happy girl! And, after my pool time, Aaron and I got caught up with what else: but more Walking Dead. We are on season 2 now, and we still can’t believe that we didn’t at least try to watch this show sooner! I need to make this out of office thing happen more frequently 🙂
Enjoy the weekend friends!!!!
