Friday Favorites: Pink Edition

golden retriever

Happy Friday, friends! This week has felt like forever and a day – anyone else? Valentine’s Day? That felt like it was years ago. Regardless, happy we are here. This week had some some low lows. I heard some sad news about a friend of a college friend who passed away suddenly last Friday. I encourage you to read her obituary here. While I never met Stephanie in person, I knew her sister in college, and I only ever heard wonderful things. She leaves behind a legacy of a life in ministry, and you can read more about her life’s work here. While I’m saddened by her death, I’m inspired by the way she lived out God’s plan for her life. What if we all did that?

So, I ask as we start our Fridays, to say a little prayer for her family, friends and church family who are all grieving. Her service is this morning, and I pray that love and peace fill that church! You never know when your last day on earth will be, so I’m encouraged and even more inspired to live out my life’s calling. What’s yours? What if you smiled a little extra? Loved a little harder? Connected with others a bit more? Why don’t we give it a try?

Valentine’s Day

Valentine's Day

On Monday, we celebrated love. You can read all about how Aaron and I had a low key Valentine’s Day here. But, I’m really hoping the store has some more of those chocolate covered strawberries this weekend. They were so delicious, and I might have to make my own.

New computer

med center

I actually had to pop down to my office in the Med Center on Wednesday. While it was great to find an excuse to head in, I really didn’t have the time. Isn’t that funny? I had to actually block my schedule off to GO INTO THE OFFICE. What world are we living in? While I missed the Med Center, I didn’t miss the traffic. I also canceled my parking contract several months ago, because it’s cheaper to pay the day rate since I’m not going in. So, I felt like a stranger in my own office building!

But, I’ve got a new computer, and it’s touch screen. I finally feel like I belong in 2022.

office

I said one last goodbye to my old office – since we are moving to a new building in late spring – and I headed back home!

Pupdate

golden retriever

The pups must have missed me while I was in my office because they kept trying to sit with me in my home office. That’s me And Tex – just working away. Anyone else have some nosy co-workers?

Adulting

damp duster

A favorite of mine is the new item I added to my cleaning Squad. With two furry golden retrievers, you can imagine the dog hair – and the amount of vacuums we have. I’ve got an entire vacuum squad (anyone else?). The big momma Dyson, the handheld Dyson and my Roomba. Each of them is what I would consider an essential worker, and each one serves it’s own purpose. I also have other tricks to keeping my house clean with two Furbabies, and it includes a lot of dusting. I love the Swiffer dusters, and they are on auto delivery with the amount that they get used in this house.

But, I recently saw a TikTok about Scrub Daddy’s new line of dusters. (I realize this is probably incredibly thrilling content I’m giving you right now). And, they have what is called a Damp Duster. And these TikTokers (is that you call them) were raving about this product. And, I was influenced. I marched myself right on over to Scrub Daddy’s website, and I bought.

My damp duster (I’ll refer to him and my Daddy Duster) arrived in all its glory two days ago. And, I gave him a whirl. Ya’ll. I get all the hype. It’s hard to describe the texture – it’s almost like damp rubber. You keep this think damp, and you start sweeping dust off everything in your house. I kept my dresser-top full of dust just for this purpose. It was so satisfying. The best part? Once you are done with it, you just rinse the dust off. Incredibly easy, and I’m a big fan of the newest little member of my cleaning Squad. I’ve since tried this out on some vents, my blinds, the tops of my fans, and I love my little Daddy Duster!

You can purchase them here – just $3.99 – you’re welcome.

Eats

Quiche

We had some good eats this week! Our Valentine’s Day meal was yummy, and I made a quiche from the Run Fast, Eat Slow cookbook. Now, the quiche took a while. But, I needed awhile to decompress from my day at work – so it was a win win. The recipe called for homemade crust so you could control the ingredients. While the homemade crust was delish, it took a long time and created a lot of mess. If I were in a rush, I would buy some frozen pie crust instead! But, the quiche turned out delicious, and I would certainly make it again, but probably not on a week night. It had some delicious fresh feta, kale, turkey bacon, figs, onions and eggs. We’ve been eating leftovers for lunch, and it’s still good two days later.

banana bread

I’ve also been enjoying some of my banana bread for an afternoon snack.

This weekend I’m getting a facial and hanging up my puppy portraits. I’m sure we will get ourselves into some other things, but for now, I’m just going with the flow!
