Weekend Edit: All the small things

walk

Happy Monday! The weekend went by too fast, and to be honest, looking ahead to the month of March has me a bit anxious. There is a lot going on in March, so my plan is to take it day by day. And, in that vein, I plan to enjoy this very last week in February (did anyone else’s February fly by?).

I made myself a little cappuccino this morning with the new double espresso dolce pods, and they are quite delicious. I froth the califia farms oat milk creamer with some cinnamon to pour over my espresso. I have two meetings on my schedule this morning, and then I’m headed into my office again to pick up a new piece of technology. My old docking station wasn’t compatible with my new computer – go figure. But, other than that, I have a nice Monday planned.

Friday

facial

Friday morning started off great. I took two hours off in the morning to go and get a facial. The lady who does my facials partnered with an influencer here in Houston, and she’s been super booked. So, I have to go when she has openings. I always try to book several months in advance. This time, she did some extractions, dermaplaning (yes, please), and a hyaluronic acid mask!

I went into my Friday evening with no major commitments on the weekend schedule, but I did have a to-do list of all the small things that needed to be accomplished. If I’m being honest here, it was a long week – I was burnt out, and an email I received at the very end of my workday (when I should have been finished) just really frustrated me. So, I decided to just shut it down, and deal with it this morning. It’s given me some time to think about it – and the best way to respond in a positive way.

ben and jerry's

I also decided to go for dessert early and help myself to some of Ben and Jerry’s Cannoli ice cream. Which, if you haven’t tried it, is delicious. It has tiny bits of chocolate-covered cannoli pieces, and a mascarpone swirl.

walk

Aaron went with me for a walk to walk off some of the bad vibes. And, like I always say: physically getting up and away from your home office, is sometimes the best thing you can do to create that work life balance. The sky showed up, and it was beautiful evening.

fireplace

We ended the night by the fire and with some Yellowstone.

Saturday

Our only really commitment (and it was a fun one) was a two-year old birthday party for my friend Kait’s daughter. We popped over, sang happy birthday, did the cake and chatted. It was the best 2-year old party I’ve been to. They had mimosas for the adults and a bounce house and ball pit for the kiddos!

peloton

After that, we headed back home to I could get to work on my to-do’s. But first, I hopped on the Peloton for a quick run. Kirsten Ferguson for the win. I love her music!

After that, I did a bunch of housework like folding and putting away laundry, and mopping my floors that I certainly didn’t take photos of because ya’ll don’t need to see my house looking like a mess. Our bedrooms are all wood floors, and the rest of our house is tile. I can be a tad bit of a perfectionist, and the grout was looking dirty, so I went to work with a scrub brush. 🙂

front porch

I bought some Hamilton tickets with a couple of my girlfriends. We have been talking about going forever, and it’s finally made its way to Houston. And, by the time that was all done, our yard guy, Elvis, made my front porch beautiful again. We had a ton of leaves, and he cleared them all off.

studio movie grill

And, Aaron and I ended our evening at Studio Movie Grill to see Murder on the Nile. It was a great murder mystery. My shoes are Birdies, and they are so comfy.

Sunday

We headed to church Sunday morning. And, I felt like that message was tailored for me. It was about work. And how we can glorify God through the work that we do. I needed to hear it, and I’m glad we were there to hear it in person. I took so many notes that I’ll share this Wednesday!

heb

After church, we headed over to H-E-B grocery pickup.

breakfast burritos

I meal prepped some more breakfast burritos.

spuds

We hung my portraits of the Spuds. I have two more that need to be hung in our living room still. These are 25×25, and they are the perfect fit for our hallway.

kira stokes

And, I ended the evening with a Kira Stokes strength workout!

So, even though my weekend wasn’t made up of big things, I feel like I barely sat down. I’ve got a friend’s birthday dinner one night this week, and we are having some neighbors over to our house for dinner at some point as well! I hope you all have a fabulous week.
