Tuesday Things: Weekend Recap + Dining Room Update

How is everyone’s Tuesday going so far? Mine if off to a great start. I have a cup of my matcha (I went with an organic matcha this morning), and I’m ready to get through these last four days before my week off! Aaron is in Austin today for one of the companies he consults for. I used to live in Austin, so I’m jealous I didn’t get to tag along this time.

My organization received our first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine yesterday, and we are set to begin vaccinating later this week. Keep in mind that I work in health care, which is why we received the vaccine so early. I am just not in direct patient care. You can read more about what I do here. My vaccination phase will be in the latter stages, but we are all receiving education about whether or not we want to take the vaccine. So, I’ll be in a meeting early this morning to learn a little bit more about it.

Saturday

turducken

Aaron and I had a weekend jam packed with: getting our house ready to host Christmas next week. I mentioned that it’s my first time hosting my in-laws at our house for the holidays, so I spent some time this weekend getting my Christmas-Day menu planned. Spoiler alert: it involves a turducken. Here he is, all ready to go!

We also managed to get 20-miles in on the bike on Saturday in some really fantastic 65-degree weather.

It was a beautiful ride, and there weren’t too many people out on the trails because it looked like it was trying to rain.

Then, our cold front blew in. I am in a never-ending battle with leaves in the pool. We have a katchakid cover (similar to this one), but we need to learn how to actually install it. I’m hoping that will help with the leaves in the pool problem – at least through the winter.

Sushi | houston

We met a friend for sushi on Saturday night. I ate allll the fish. One of my favorite takeaways from my Japan trip last year (which I think I’m going to recap next week- get excited) was the true art form behind sushi. I’ve always loved sushi, but knowing the history behind it – it really is one of my favorite foods.

Sunday + Dining room update

On Sunday, we knocked off some items on our to-do list. We started off with church, and then we headed out for some errands.

I’m happy to report that we finally found a bench to go in our dining room. I’ll do a full update with how the dining room is coming along at a later date, but we have a bench. Apparently, a lot of furniture is on back-order these days, so the chairs we liked wouldn’t be in stock until late January. That said, I’m going to have to do with some chairs we have lying around the house for Christmas dinner.

Happy Tuesday, Friends!
