Weekend Edit: Time change Edition

running

This Monday morning is brought to you by lots of coffee, thanks to the time change. But, we had a fabulous little weekend over here. I’m thinking back to last night when the weather was perfect, and I had a glass of wine in hand with some Chris Stapleton playing in the background. Pretty nice Sunday evening if you ask me.

I had a wonderful weekend, and I’m ready to take on this week. I’m also trying to take Friday off for a little girl’s trip this weekend. Depending on how Monday through Thursday go, I could be bringing a bit of work with me this weekend, but I really hope not. I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Some of ya’ll are returning from Spring Break, and I hope your Monday back goes smoothly. And, if you are one of lucky ones just now leaving for Spring Break, please share what your fun plans are.

Friday

panera

My guilty pleasure on Fridays now that I’m working from home, is ordering something from Door Dash or Uber Eats. Because it was cold, I opted for some tomato soup from Panera. Their tomato soup is one of my faves.

My weekend began Friday at 6 p.m. on the dot. At some point that afternoon, a cold front rolled through Houston, and our temperatures were in the low 40s. Regardless, the pups wanted a walk, so Aaron and I took them on a very chilly evening walk. Then, we went to go see the new Batman movie. I don’t want to spoil it for anyone, but it wasn’t my favorite and could have been about an hour shorter. But, it was a great way to spend a chilly Friday evening.

Saturday

breakfast

I slept in a little bit on Saturday. Aaron was working Saturday morning, so I made myself a nice little egg sandwich with some apple slices.

And then, I set off on my six mile run. This half-marathon isn’t going to run itself. And, if I can get my longer runs done earlier in the day, I know I will actually get out there and do them. This is the longest run I’ve done outside in a couple of years. I normally stick to about 3 miles for maintenance when I’m not training for a race. And, these 6 miles felt great. I think a 10K is truly one of the best distances.

I passed by some horses in my neighborhood on my run!

And, I finished my 6 miles with a time I was happy with.

I’m planning to run 9 miles the very last weekend in March. And then, I’ll do 11 miles at some point in April, and I should be in good shape to run the half. I’m also mixing in my strength training with Kira Stokes, in addition to my outdoor longer runs – and Peloton runs. Strength training makes all the difference. So does a real recovery. I had a protein smoothie after my run.

After my smoothie, I went to go get my facial. This time, my face was a bit wind burned from my run, so she worked on hydrating my skin, we did some derma planing and did some microdermabrasion to get rid of my dead skin. Here is my skin after my facial.

After that, I checked a whole lot of things off my to do list. One of the biggest items on that list was sending our tax information off to our CPA, which is something I had been dreading. But, I got that taken care of. I also booked some flights for an upcoming trip in April, put in my grocery order, ordered some gifts for some upcoming birthdays and more! It felt so nice to get all of those little things taken care of that had been floating around as to-dos. After that, Aaron and I stayed in and watched some movies on Netflix. It was an ideal Saturday.

Sunday

I woke up Sunday morning tired. I actually forgot that the time change took place in the early morning. It wasn’t until we got ready for church and in the car that I actually remembered that the time had changed. Luckily, I use my iPhone/Apple Watch for time, and they change automatically – my car does not.

Our executive pastor preached this morning from Psalms 20. We’ve been spending a lot of time talking about wisdom, which is one of the two things I pray for every morning. Each day, I ask God to give me wisdom and leadership throughout my day.

After church, we hopped on over for a grocery pick up.

Then, it was so nice out, so we walked the Spuds for a long, two-mile walk. They were exhausted after that.

shopping

And, because I’ve been working so hard lately, I decided to take myself shopping. Heading out by myself to shop for a couple of hours of uninterrupted time is one of my love languages. I like to browse, try things on – and just enjoy some quiet time by myself. You should try it sometime. I also needed an outfit for the rodeo – and a new pair of jeans. I headed to Old Navy and Nordstrom!

jeans

It’s so hard to find a good pair of jeans, but I did find a pair that worked enough for me to bring home! I went with the Frame jeans, which I’ve never actually purchased before – but I liked the cut and fit.

Steak

Once I got back home, I got to work on dinner. Some friends of ours sent us some steaks from Omaha Steaks, and we decided to try them out. They were actually delicious. Paired with some Banza Mac and cheese, Brussels and some red wine, and it was a delicious Sunday evening.

I’m headed to the Rodeo on Tuesday to see Gwen and on Thursday to see Chris Stapleton! And, on Friday, I’m headed out of town for a girl’s weekend. It’s going to be a fab week, I can tell.
