Friday Favorites: Spring Break Dreaming

golden retriever

Happy Friday! We made it ya’ll, and that is a big accomplishment in and of itself. My week has felt approximately 500 days long 🙂 I’ve been pulling some long days, and I don’t think it’s going to slow down until March is officially over. But, like I always say, it’s so important to separate work from every day life. So, I’ have some fun things to look forward to this weekend, including no set items on my calendar. I have a facial on Saturday morning, and I want my girl to do a hydrofacial because my skin has been so dry with Houston’s hot and cold ups and downs.

I also have to finalize an upcoming trip to California, and I would like to do a 6-mile run outside in preparation for my upcoming half marathon. It’s going to be in the 30s this weekend, though, and ya’ll know I don’t love cold weather. So, jury is still out on that.

This week has had some favorite despite how busy this season is!

Hamilton

Hamilton

Of course, I kicked my week off with Hamilton. I’ve been listening to that soundtrack on repeat! (Do the kids still say “soundtrack” these days?)

Rodeo

In case you missed my post on “Exploring your own Backyard: Rodeo edition,” you can read it here. I’m excited about Rodeo, and I’m looking forward to seeing Gwen Stefani next Tuesday. I always try to pick a concert or two featuring an artist I haven’t seen live.

Work

Toyota Center

So, even though it’s been one of my busiest weeks of the year for work, it’s been a fun one. We have a big event coming up, and we got did an onsite tour of the venue this week. After Zooming with everyone each and every day, it’s a treat to be able to meet in person. Can’t wait to see this one get pulled off! It’s going to be great.

Spuds and time changes

The Spuds are starting to calm down a bit. They know and understand how to execute tricks and commands, but our problem is dealing with how excited they get. If someone comes to the door – it’s game over. So, we’ve been working really hard with them to get them to calm down a bit – and not jump on every guest who comes through our door. It’s going to be an ongoing work in progress, but they are getting a bit better.

We’ve been taking them on longer walks during the evening this week, since it’s been lighter out a bit later. Speaking of….. is anyone else as excited for the time change as I am? I don’t like it when it’s dark at 5 p.m., so the time change is always a welcome switch in my book.

Crockpot

I should have led with my crockpot. It’s been the real MVP this week. I’ve been working longer in the evenings and am really brain dead by the time the end of my day rolls around. It’s been so simple to pop some dinners in the crockpot and just hit “start.” I’ve got an easy, healthy and warm meal ready by the time dinner rolls around. My crockpot ranch chicken is one of my all-time favorites.

Make ahead breakfasts

breakfast burritos

Not only have I been working late, but I’ve had some early morning meetings. Remember those make ahead breakfast burritos I’ve been talking about? They have been saving the day. I pop them in them in the microwave for about 2 minutes, turning it over about halfway through, and I’ve got a hot, healthy breakfast ready to go in minutes.

Workouts

Kira Stokes bands

I’ve been doing a mix of Peloton running this week, and I’m making my way through Kira Stoke’s “Stoked in 7 Express 2.0.” There is nothing like getting the body moving to shake off any stress or tension and the effects of a long day!

Kira Stokes | 21-day challenge

Here I am awhile ago getting a band workout in. So easy, you can do it in your home! Look at those old floors! So glad we swapped that color out for our grey floors!

That’s all I’ve got for you today, but Happy Friday! I hope you all have the most wonderful weekend!
