Weekend Recap: out of office edition

anniversary dinner

I’m officially on vacation for the next seven days. And it feels fabulous. I’m recapping my weekend, and Aaron and I are headed off for a long weekend toward the end of this week. I’m doing a bit of consulting work this Monday but I’ve given myself the rest of the week off to really and truly disconnect from email and work. But, Aaron and I had the best weekend. Here’s what we were up to.

Friday

I worked all day on Friday to get my projects to a good spot to be out for a week. I am the type of person who likes to have the majority control on my projects, and I feel bad pushing work on to someone else. So, I’ve been working pretty hard over the last month to get everything to a good spot so I can truly be out of the office.

Once I wrapped up work, Aaron and I had reservation to celebrate our anniversary. We always like to go out to a nice dinner – and just take some time to chat (away from phones) and to recap our last year. And this year, especially, we had a lot of ground to cover. We made reservations at Lynn’s, which is a steakhouse close to our house. (they cork your bottle if you don’t finish it).

And, it was quaint and delicious. I had the lobster bisque to start and had a filet for my entree. We split a side of their potatoes Lyonaisse, and everything was fantastic. They have an extensive wine list, so we got a nice bottle of merlot. And, they brought out a complimentary chocolate cake for our anniversary. We will be back. It was a bit of an older crowd, but it’s close to the house and delicious.

Saturday

We slept in on Saturday morning – and had a bunch of errands to run. I’m trying to get the puppies used to car ride, so I took them along with me for grocery pickup. They were fairly well behaved in the car, and I think our pickup took a bit longer because more people are using the opportunity for curbside pickup since the Delta variant has become more prominent in Houston.

Aaron and I took our monthly pic with the dogs. They’ve gotten so big that I’m not sure I’ll be able to hold both of them at the same time next month! Tex is on the left and Cali is on the right. They’ve got a vet appointment this week, and I’m looking forward too seeing how big they’ve gotten.

We spent the evening watching The Walking Dead. It’s nice to not have any plans on the schedule and just relax!!!

Sunday

The dogs lets us sleep in a bit, and we decided to watch church online. We will go back to attending in person the Sunday after next. I made Aaron and I some omelets, and we just relaxed a bit before our friends came over to spend some time in the pool.

The weather cooled off enough to enough dinner outside on our patio, and we called it an early night!

I hope you all have a wonderful week and that its filled with everything you need it to be.
