Weekend Recap + We are getting spooky

Jonathans the rub

It’s Monday! I started my morning off with a cup of coffee with some pumpkin creamer. I’m not officially in Fall mode just yet, but I’m getting more in the mood! We are supposed to have some bad weather here in Houston this week, and weather models are predicting it’s going to rain through Wednesday. Fingers crossed the rain is manageable and there isn’t any flooding. Here’s what we were up to this weekend.

Friday

office clean out

I headed to my office in the medical center on Friday with my co-worker (and friend) to work on a project. While I was there, I packed up my office. My entire division is moving to a new building, and while many of us will be working from home the majority of the time, we will have “hot desks” and conference space available to reserve for in-person meetings and times we need to go into the office.

That means, I won’t ever have a traditional office in the med center for the foreseeable future. So, I packed up my office on Friday! Since we were down in the Med Center, my friend and I headed to Molina’s: one of our favorite (former) lunch spots.

Jonathans the rub

After I got back to my house, I wrapped up some more emails, and I got ready for my birthday dinner with Blair, Alice and Aaron. Alice took us to Jonathan’s the Rub, which I had never been to, but it was absolutely delicious. I had a spicy basil margarita, and it was amazing. I had the shrimp and grits for my entree. I also sampled some of the other dishes (hello chicken fried chicken) and the red snapper. Everything was tasty. It was a large menu, so we will be back. Can we talk about how cute Alice is?

Saturday

I started my morning off by adulting. I did some cleaning around the house, folded about four loads of laundry, ran my Roomba, did some vacuuming – ya know – all the things every gal wants to do on a Saturday morning. 🙂 In all seriousness, we’ve had visitors and we were out of town, so it felt good to get my house back in order.

We took the Spuds on a short little walk around our neighborhood – we just started taking them on short walks this past week. They love them so much. We are still teaching them leash manners, but it’s a whole big world out there. New noises, new sounds, new people and new animals – Tex discovered a squirrel.

workout

I got a quick workout in.

Then, we needed to take our mattresses to the recycling center, and we headed to Target. It’s been awhile since I’ve had a good Target run under my belt, so I was long overdue. I needed tons of odds and ends (swiffer dusters anyone?), but I picked up some fun stuff too.

olive and June nail polish

I picked up some spooky biscuits for the Spuds, because I’m kind of feeling Fall around here. How cute are they? I also picked up some Olive and June nail polish, which was recommended by a friend. I tried it last night, and so far, so good! I got the color, “TT,” and it’s a gray-ish pink color. Jury is still out, but I’ll let you know how my nails look in a week.

Sunday

caden lane

I put together a care package for my friend who just had her third baby. I’ve been waiting on one last thing to arrive before I sent off the package, and it arrived this week. I added few other goodies for her two other kiddos! But how cute is that swaddle blanket?

bible

We headed to church, and the message today was on David – and leadership.

After church, I worked out and ran a bunch more errands. We finished our night nice and cozy in the house with our Spuds.

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. This week, I’ll recap Bachelor in Paradise from tonight’s episode, and I’ll share my trip to Canton and our trip to Seaside.
