Weekend Roundup

Happy Monday, friends! Hope your week is off to a nice start. I took Friday off to get some more things unpacked in the new house (can someone remind me to take a full week off the next time we move), so I had a wonderful, three-day weekend.

Friday

We had our first cold front come in Thursday evening, and the weather felt fabulous when I woke up Friday morning. It was in the mid-50s and a bit rainy. The perfect day to get some stuff done. I got through a couple of emails for work that needed to be handled, and I set out to go on a short run. As soon as I stepped outside, it started pouring, so I decided to switch up my workout routine and jumped on our indoor cycle. I got a good 30 minutes in before I needed to get busy. After my workout, Aaron and I went to the church gym down the street so we could VOTE! We were in and out in less than 30 minutes. My pastor always says: you can’t complain if you don’t vote. Let’s all be glad we enjoy the freedoms offered to us here in the U.S. and get out and vote.

After we voted, I ran to the grocery store and returned a rug that just wasn’t working in my hallway. I really need a longer hallway runner. Then, Friday night, Aaron and I went to Houston’s – one of our favorite restaurants – and met up with two of our friends for dinner. I am a huge fan of their Ahi Tuna salad, but I decided to go for the French Dip instead. All in all, a great Friday.

Saturday

We decided we were going to go on a bit of a longer bike ride because the weather was so nice. We got on the trails and got to the part where the trail typically ends, but saw other cyclists turn left. We decided to follow them, and we found the connecting part of the trail to George Bush Park. That ride could probably extend for another 10-15 miles, but we turned around at a good stopping point and headed back home. We did 26-miles in total. It was a fantastic bike trail, and I’m so glad we are becoming more familiar with how all of the trails connect. Ya’ll, get out and enjoy some time outdoors. We’ve been cooped up, and it’s been a game changer to get out and explore everything Houston has to offer.

Once we got done on the bikes, I had to run some errands – I’m looking for storage boxes that fit these shelves. It’s proving to be more difficult than the previous owners made it look.

After that, two of my very favorite friends came over to see the new house and to have dinner. Aaron grilled some burgers, and I made some of my mother-in-law’s potato salad, some queso and guacamole. My friend, Kim, made some of Joanna Gaines’ cookies out of her new cookbook, and they were delish.

Sunday Things

Woke up Sunday morning and watched church online. I think we are going to go back to in-person service sometime over the next couple of weeks. I also did a bit more Fall decorating. I don’t want to go all out because I’m supposed to be unpacking my house, but I did want to put up a nice, Fall mantle!

Hope you all have a fantastic week!

Kira
