Happy Monday – I hope you had a wonderful weekend. Ours was fairly restful, but we still had ourselves a good time. Summer weekends are the best.
Friday
I worked from home all day Friday, and it was one of those days where I had lots of little projects that I was trying to knock off my to-do list. I mentioned that it should be relatively quiet over the next couple of weeks, and Friday was no exception. I had some cute puppies helping me work.
I wrapped up my day – and Aaron and I decided it was a great night for pizza night. I’m also a big Olympics fan, so I wanted to watch the Opening Ceremony.
We made a frozen pizza at home, and I doctored it up by adding some jalapeños.
After we ate, we turned on the opening ceremonies, and we celebrated with a Sonic Red, white and blue slush float!
Saturday
I started my day off with doing allllll the loads of laundry. We needed to wash bed sheets and several loads of clothes! While I was doing that, Aaron cut the lawn.
I got a workout in before I headed out to meet my friend, Andy, for lunch. Did I mention that it so hot in Texas right now? We’ve been a bit spoiled this summer because it hasn’t been crazy hot, but the tides turned this weekend.
Andy and I decided to meet at Local Food in the Heights. She’s vegan, and they have tons of great options. We had some watermelon mimosas, and I had their Summer Harvest Salad with tofu. It was so hot that I really wanted something light – and that did the trick. It was so good to catch up one on one. Andy has been a friend of mine since my Sophomore year at Baylor. We’ve been roommates – and we’ve been in each other’s weddings!
After that, I headed home. Aaron was wiped out because he went on a bike ride while I was at lunch. And, because it was so hot – he was feeling pretty dehydrated! So, we watched some more Olympics on the couch with the pups! Or – at least I tried to watch 🙂
Sunday
The pups let us sleep in on Sunday. We let them sleep in the bed with us, which is not really a habit I want to start, but they sure are so sweet and snuggly when they are sleepy. And, they sleep in a bit longer. We woke up and went to get donuts.
We are trying to teach them car manners, so we took the puppies with us.
After that, we watched church online.
I ran to go grocery shopping after church, and I saw that they now sell Chick fil-A sauce? Am I late to the game on this? I didn’t buy any, because I’m not sure what all I would put it on, but if I need to get some – please let me know!
And, we went for a family swim! We are trying to teach the dogs how to swim. Sawyer didn’t love the water, but since Aaron and I are in the water a lot – swimming, kayaking, etc… it would be good for the pups to be used to swimming. Cali probably likes the water a bit more than Tex, but he’s getting used to it.
As you know, Aaron and I are sparkling water fans. So, I picked up these Voss sparkling waters at the store yesterday to drink by the pool. I got the lime mint flavor, and they were delish!
We wrapped up our evening with – you guessed it – more Olympics. Love the women’s gymnastics and the swimming!
Hope your week is off to a great start!
