Why you need a Costco membership

Costco | Autumn's Gold granola

When Aaron and I first got married, I really didn’t think we needed a Costco membership. My mom had one, so I knew what types of items they had, but I really didn’t think two people needed to buy a bunch of stuff in bulk.

My parents gifted us a Costco membership for Christmas a couple of years ago, and we love it. Costco is great for things like toilet paper and paper towels. I can buy those items once a year – and not have to worry if I’m running low.

I also love Costco for their meat – because I can freeze and then thaw for an easy weeknight dinner. They have really great snacks. Now that I’m not doing work lunches the way I used to, I need some quality lunch items for the home. We made a Costco trip this weekend, and stocked up on some of our faves.

Drinks

Costco | Topo Chico

Aaron and I drink alot of water during the week. We are both huge fans of Waterloo and Topo Chico. This time, Costco had a 24-pack of the 20 oz. Topo Chicos, so we grabbed one of those, and our multi-flavor pack of Waterloo.

Lunch Stuff

I love their chicken salad singles. You can put a scoop of this on top of a salad – or put it on a sandwich – or have some pita chips with it. It’s a great staple to have on hand. They use Greek yogurt instead of mayo for a healthier option. We picked up this Sabra hummus this weekend also. It came with three different toppings: red pepper, caramelized onion and olive tapenade.

Produce

I love Costco produce. This time I picked up some blueberries, bananas, avocados, a bagged salad and some red, seedless grapes. The grapes were the real winner of this trip. It was 4-pounds of grapes, and they are crispy and delicious. With both of us working from home, we will snack on these throughout the week.

Frozen Foods

I always have some veggie burgers on hand for lunches. I like to chop them up and stick them on top of a salad for a quick lunch. This organic riced Cauliflower Stir-Fry was a recent find. Go get you some of this! It comes with four packages, and all you have to do is dump it into a pan and sautee for about 8 minutes. It’s healthy and delicious.

For a super quick weeknight dinner, you can pair this cauliflower rice with some chicken or vegan sausages, some shrimp, or even some marinated chicken tenders. Super easy and super quick! Here are some other easy weeknight recipes I’ve shared.

Breakfast Items

Costco | Autumn's Gold granola

Okay. I need to talk to ya’ll about the Autumn’s Gold granola. I can’t find this in any of my local grocery stores, but it’s my favorite. It is paleo, grain free, gluten free and non-GMO. The best part about this granola is that it is relatively low on sugar – with just 5 grams per serving. It’s delicious. I mix this up with some greek yogurt in the morning, or top of a smoothie with some of this deliciousness.

This cereal was a first-time purchase, and honestly, kind of expensive for a box of cereal. I think it was like $14. We will give this a try and report back to you.

They also make granola bars, but I haven’t tried those yet.

Bonus buy

Costco | cinnamon rolls

I mean – is it even Costco if you don’t treat yourself? Get the cinnamon rolls if you haven’t already. They are great for a weekend breakfast, for visitors, for yourself…. whatever your heart desires 🙂

Let’s talk…. Costco gas

We need to talk Costco gas. I didn’t understand the loooooong lines for Costco gas. I wasn’t really filling up my gas tank all that much either. But, the lines were a bit shorter at the Costco by our new house, so we decided to see what the hype was all about. Costco gas is cheap. Like really cheap. You are welcome for this tip. I have to put premium gas in my car, and it typically can cost me about $40-$45 to fill up my 15-gallon tank. I paid….. less than $30 to fill up my whole tank. Sign me up for that.

Okay, friends. So, don’t be like me. You need a Costco membership no matter what stage of life you are in. Happy Tuesday!!!
