First Friday Favorites of 2022

Happy First Friday of 2022! Is everyone back into the swing of things? I slowly regaining my momentum – and finding myself back in a routine. My first week back to work was busy, but manageable. I had some meetings on my schedule, but it wasn’t overwhelming. So, here’s to more weeks like that this year.

champagne

We started the New Year off with a nice bottle of champagne!

golden retriever

We took the puppies up on the trails behind our house for the first time this week. We’ve been worried that the rocks could be a bit much on their feet, so we decided to give it a trial run. They did great – we brought lots of water, and we did about two miles with them. It was jut enough to wear them out, but we didn’t overdo it.

I’ve been cooking up some new recipes this week as part of my goal to try out one new recipe each week.

I’ve been enjoying picking out a recipe from our new Run Fast. Eat Slow. cookbook. I have several that I want to try right off the bat. So, I think I’m going to try a breakfast recipe and one dinner recipe. That should be doable.

Hostage by Clare Mackintosh

I also finished reading my first book of the year. But, before you start wondering how I managed to get through a book already – I actually started reading this book back in the fall. And it’s taken me all this time to finish it. It was a really good book, I just kept getting distracted with other projects.

jam surprise muffins

Speaking of trying new recipes, a favorite of mine this week has been my jam surprise muffins. I froze the batch I made, so I could heat them up for breakfast – or for an afternoon snack.

peloton tread

Another favorite this week has been the Peloton. I finally did a a Peloton review. Spoiler alert: I love it. This week, I took a couple of 30 minute classes.

I have a baby shower coming up in a couple of weeks, so I’ve been doing some shopping for a sweet little baby girl who is about to join our crew. And I’ve been channeling the pink in my new shacket. This was actually a Christmas present from my husband, and I kind of love it. This is the one I have, in pink envy. (Look at Tex – he’s giving me that side eye)!

dog cartoon

I don’t know why he’s giving me the side eye because he’s been allll up in my personal space this week. He’s started a really bad habit of jumping up into our bed in the middle of the night. He’s very attached to me, so he kind of smothers me. We don’t let the dogs in the bed, but he does it around 3 to 4 in the morning and refuses to leave. So, sleep has been winning out, but it’s made my side of the bed much smaller. His little face is so cute, it’s hard to tell him no.

My big plans this weekend involve taking ALLLL my Christmas stuff down, and I hope you’ll hold me to it. I’m ready for a clean house and a clean space. I’ve enjoyed it while it’s lasted, but it’s officially time to embrace the clean slate that January brings. We’ve got dinner plans with friends on Saturday night, and I have a girl’s brunch on Sunday afternoon!

Whatever your plans are this weekend, enjoy!
