Friday Favorites: November Edition

Astros golden retrievers

Happy Friday! I’m starting the first Friday in November off the right way: with my holiday Starbucks cup in hand. They put out their holiday cups yesterday, but since I still hadn’t gone to grab a pumpkin spice latter (who am I?) at all in October, I decided I needed to grab one before they were gone.

A November Cool Front

November cool front

We had a true cool front roll through during this first week in November. It’s been in the 50s and 60s and feels fabulous. There is just something special about gearing up for the holiday season with cooler weather in tow.

A rain storm ushered in the cool front this week, which meant the pups couldn’t go outside and play like they normally do. So, instead, they decided to work with me. Right in the same chair!

I remember wondering what it would be like if I could bring my dog to work. And now, in 2021, they work right alongside me. There is something extra comforting about having my dogs close by, and they also enjoy meeting my co-workers over Zoom. I’ll always remember spending the last year of Sawyer’s life working at home with him right by my feet. He was so attached to me, that I’m glad we got all that extra time together. That’s my handsome Sawyer in the photo above – I still miss that sweet, angel face every day!

Speaking of pups…. I got our photos back this week. A couple of weeks ago, I had photos taken of the pups. I wanted some wall art featuring members of our fam. Because we knew the ‘Stros were going to the World Series, I had some taken with their Astors bandanas. And, while the ‘Stros losing is not a favorite of mine this week, I sure am proud of this team (and how cute are the pups in their bandanas?).

Gutter Guards

And, in the spirit of adulting, we had some gutter guards installed on the house this week. As you can see in the photo, we’ve got a lot of large trees, which all tend to drop tons of leaves on the house during the winter. So, the team we used to clean our gutters several weeks ago, came back to install the gutter guards. It was a good addition to the house, and I’m excited that our gutters will be debris free (which will also cut back on the mosquitoes).

PNW Dog Tags

I ordered the cutest tags for the dogs from PNW tags. They came in the mail this week, and you can customize just about everything: state, tag color, font, shape, etc… They are the cutest!

Pumpkin Banana Bread

In honor of November’s cool front arriving, I decided it was more than time to make some pumpkin banana bread. I used the Pioneer Woman’s recipe, but I subbed coconut oil for the vegetable oil and skipped the pecans (because I didn’t have any).

Boot Walk to End Cancer

Boot walk

I’ve saved the best for last this Friday. Tomorrow is the Boot Walk to End Cancer. My team has nearly reached its goal of $25,000, and I’ve almost tripled my personal fundraising goal. Tomorrow, I’ll be walking six miles – both in honor of the 6th year of the event, and in honor of my friend’s dad who is currently undergoing treatment.
