Friday Favorites + Go ‘Stros

Astros golden retrievers

Happy Friday! What a fabulous week it’s been – in no small part to the Houston Astros. In honor of the ‘Stros playing in the ALCS, here’s one of my favorite photos of the puppies in their Houston Astros gear. They are just the cutest.

So needless to say that one of my Friday Favorites has been watching the Astros. After Saturday’s game that went 18 innings, you would think that we would be all baseball out, but it’s become kind of an October tradition to watch our ‘Stros play.

Meetings

Salento Bistrot - Rice Village District, Houston, TX

It’s been a whirlwind week. I’ve had a lot of appointments on my calendar that all kind of piled up this week. On Monday, I had lunch with Alice, which was a favorite of mine. We had lots of catching up to do. I also met an old friend/mentor at one of my favorite coffee shops: Salento.

Do you ever dread a packed schedule, but once you start making progress on moving through your list – you appreciate it after? Yeah – that’s me. If I’m being honest, I dreaded a couple of the appointments on my calendar this week, and I was making all kinds of excuses to opt out – but, I never regret going. And, it’s something that I have to remind myself of every time I start feeling like I don’t want to attend a certain meeting in person – or meet up with someone I’ve never met before. It’s part of learning and stretching and growing. In fact, I’ve got one of these meeting this morning. I have a meeting with someone I’ve never met before, but I bet we can both learn from each other, so I’m looking forward to it!

Fall weather

Sunset

Our cold front came in this week, which has been a definite favorite. The weather has been perfect. Our mornings start off in the 50s, and it warms up into the 70s. It’s been gorgeous outside, and we’ve been getting out for some perfect walks in the evenings.

A new recipe

Did you catch my new recipe I posted on Wednesday? It was a hit at our house, and I’ll add it into my rotation moving forward. Check out my Instant Pot cowboy casserole recipe here.

New car shopping

demo

I mentioned that Aaron sold my car last week, and I’ve been driving around a demo this week. That’s a little wife perk of having a husband in the auto business. I’ve enjoyed testing out a different car, but I’m putting some serious thought into what my next car will be. But, this one has been fun to drive around while I think about it.

Nespresso

Nespresso

I got a Nespresso delivery this week, and as soon as it arrived, I got word that their Peppermint Pinwheel holiday flavor has arrived. You all know I love a good holiday coffee. Some surprise chocolate also came with my order.

Soup Season

Soup is one of my favorite foods to eat during the fall and winter. My friend tried a Squash soup recipe last week, and she said it was delicious. So, I gave a recipe a try this week, and ya’ll…. it was so good. Not only did my house smell delicious (it had all sorts of goodness in it like apples and cinnamon and nutmeg), but it tasted delicious as well. It made a ton, so I was able to freeze lots of it to heat up for a quick dinner another night. I’ll share the recipe next week.

What’s going on in October?

We’ve got a packed couple of weeks ahead of us. I’m hosting a couple’s shower for my best friend this weekend. The theme is football – she went to Baylor, and her fiancĂ© went to UT: “A house divided becomes united.” And, ironically, my own husband won’t be able to attend. He’s hosting a bachelor party for his best friend. We’ve got a wedding next weekend – so we are getting away for a weekend. And after that, the holiday season will be right around the corner. I’m just trying to keep myself afloat, take things as they come – and enjoy every little second along the way – even the busy ones.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
