Weekend Edit + Couple’s Shower edition

couple's shower

Happy Monday, friends. What a weekend we had. Aaron and I called it an early night last night – I think we were both asleep by 10 p.m. Both of us have been going pretty non-stop since Friday morning, so it was nice to go to bed and get a good night’s rest.

Friday

Friday morning started off with a meeting down in museum district for me. My meeting ended up going really well, and I enjoyed meeting someone new in my line of work. She will be a good contact for me. We met at a new-to-me coffee shop – Mo Better Brews. We sat outside, and it was a really nice way to kick off my Friday.

When I got home, our neighbors had “Boo’d” our house, which was a nice surprise. This is something our local PTA is doing to raise money. You can “Boo” your neighbors the entire month of October. So, of course, I had to take advantage of a cute photo op for the dogs.

And, here are the pups in their Halloween costumes!

Aaron headed out of town for his best friend’s bachelor party soon after that, and I worked away the rest of my afternoon. While Aaron was enjoying a weekend in Rockport (I’ll admit I was a tad jealous), I was on my Peloton to kick start my Friday evening. I managed to make it into the first place spot for just about a couple of minutes before the guy behind me beat me 🙂

We ordered some Thai food, and I had every intention of watching some trash reality show to take advantage of Aaron being gone, but I ended up falling asleep on the couch. The Spuds and I were out!

Saturday

I was co-hosting a wedding shower on Saturday, so my day started off bright and early. Because I was flying solo this weekend, I wanted to make sure that the pups got some good exercise in before I was gone the majority of the day. I woke up, enjoyed some breakfast.

The dogs went for a good long walk to wear them out.

I got myself ready for the wedding shower.

Couple’s Shower

And I hit the road. The theme was “A House Divided Becomes United.” The bride went to Baylor, and the groom went to UT, so there’s a bit of some competition. We hosted the couple’s shower at one of their favorite bars downtown so guests could watch allllll the sports. I mean, Baylor was playing, UT was playing – and the Astros were playing. So, it was the perfect set up.

Here are some of the details:

One of our friends’ husband created these foam fingers. Whatever wasn’t used at the shower will be repurposed to use on the dance floor at the wedding.

A little dessert table. The cupcakes were made by someone local here in Houston, and they were delicious. The cookies were gifts for people to take on their way out.

The little UT and Baylor centerpieces were created by one of the bridesmaids – she has a cricut, and is very crafty!

The same bridesmaid who created the centerpieces also created this backdrop to use for photo ops. God bless the crafty people. I have not a crafty a bone in my body, so I’m always so impressed by people who are able to create things from scratch.

Here’s the wedding party.

And here I am with my bestie!

It was a fun time celebrating our bride. The icing on the cake was that Baylor and the Astros won, so it was a great sports day!

Sunday

I let myself sleep in on Sunday. But, I had a project I wanted to tackle before Aaron got home: I had ingredients in my refrigerator that needed to be used before we go out of town this coming weekend, so I threw together a breakfast casserole. I’ll share the recipe this week because it’s delicious. It made a bunch, but we can eat it for breakfast this week, and I’ll probably end up freezing some.

Costco

After that, I had to run to Costco for a mini little Costco haul. While I really went for Halloween candy (I hadn’t stocked up yet, and we always get a ton of trick-or-treaters), I grabbed some other essentials.

And, I found these dairy-free ice cream sandwiches that I wanted to try.

Aaron had made it home by the time I got back, and I decided on my chicken pot pie for dinner last night!

And that sums up our weekend. It’s a four-day work week for me, and I’ve got a lot to pack in! Next up: Richard’s wedding weekend!
