Happy Monday + Super Bowl Weekend Recap

Happy Monday, friends! We had an eventful weekend and a busy week ahead. I’m in training for a big chunk of the morning tomorrow, and I have two events later that afternoon.

Friday

As I shared last week, Aaron’s best friend, Richard, came in for the weekend. He’s an orthopedic surgeon, so his schedule can be a bit unpredictable. Richard and his girlfriend ended up being able to make the drive to Houston on Friday night, and they got in around 10 p.m.

vet

We had a super eventful Friday morning: we took both dogs to the vet, which is always kind of a chore and requires all men on deck. We were there for several reasons, but mainly, Buttercup split her toenail earlier in the week, and it wouldn’t stop bleeding, so now, she has a little cast.

Annnnd, she’s scheduled for surgery in March to remove the lump on her eye and a spot on her head. Fingers crossed all goes well.

After we got home from the vet, we worked a full day, and then, Aaron and I were able to get the house clean and ready for our guests. I also did a quick grocery pickup at H-E-B. I do really like to do my own shopping when I have the time, but it’s fantastic when you just don’t have an extra hour in your weekend. By the time Richard got into town, it was pretty late, so he and Aaron stayed up talking for a bit, and I hopped in my bed.

Saturday

sausage egg and cheese breakfast casserole

I woke up early on Saturday morning to get my breakfast casserole in the oven. I made a quick and easy sausage, egg and cheese casserole, and I had some strawberries and pineapple out.

Then, we decided to head down to Top Golf. I knew I could golf for a bit, but I had to head out early for a drive by baby shower. I wasn’t sure what to wear, so I went with this – I switched out my tennis shoes from some cute sandals.

I’m not a golfer by any means ( I would love to take some lessons one day), but Aaron and Richard take it pretty seriously.

baby shower gift basket

I took off after a couple hours of golfing to head to the drive by baby shower! I put together a gift basket that had some Baylor onesies, a cut pom basket for her nursery, one of the those monthly photo blankets, some of my favorite books and a couple of other goodies! I’ve known Kim since my freshman year at Baylor (we lived down the hall from each other), and it was so nice to celebrate her and her new baby girl!

I had the chance to catch up with Kim, a couple of other friends and some of Kim’s family! Then, I headed back home because Aaron and Richard were grilling. After dinner, Richard and his girlfriend had to head back to San Antonio, so it was a quick visit, but it was nice to catch up.

Super Bowl Sunday

Sawyer was exhausted from all of the excitement, so we had a lazy Sunday morning. We watched church online, and Aaron and I took a walk since the weather is about as perfect as Houston weather can get! Then, it was time for the game.

We typically have several of our friends over for the Super Bowl, but we decided to keep it very small this year, and had our friend, Blair, swing by. I was so thrilled to see Tom Brady (and Gronk) get that win. After the game, we were in bed by midnight!

Valentine’s Day plans?

What are your plans for Valentine’s Day weekend? I’m getting my second COVID-19 vaccine dose on Friday, and I’ve heard many people experience a few more side effects from the second dose. I’m really hoping that doesn’t mess up my plans for Valentine’s Day weekend. Aaron and I are doing a cooking class with a local shop in here in Houston with two of our friends!
