November 2020 Books in Review

Happy Wednesday friends! It’s been cold here in Houston the last couple of days, so Aaron got our fireplace going. Our house is so cozy, that it has really put me in the reading mood.

It’s been awhile since I’ve talked about the books I’m currently reading with you. In my last post, I was reading Josie Silver’s latest book “The Two Lives of Lydia Bird.” I’m happy to report that I was able to get through three books in November, and I am currently reading two others.

The Two Lives of Lydia Bird by Josie Silver

It was so cute. It’s a love story that is born out of a tragedy that occurs and is filled with twists and turns along the way. Now, I loved One Day in December, and this newest book of Josie’s was just as good.

Aaron and I watched The Undoing, which just happens to based off of a novel called “You Should Have Known.” I loved the show so much, that I got the book. I waited until the show was over on Sunday to finish it. If you were a fan of the show, you will love this book. It dives into some of the psychological impact and emotions felt by each of the characters. If you are wanting a good thriller, give this a shot.

An Island Christmas: A Novel by [Nancy Thayer]

I read “An Island Christmas” this month to get me in the holiday mood. This was my first Nancy Thayer book to read, and it was a quick, lighthearted book to get me ready for the holidays. It takes place in Nantucket, and the main character is headed back to get married.

Books I’m Currently Reading

I’m currently reading two books. One for work and one for fun.

The book I’m reading for fun is JoJo Moyes’ “The Giver of Stars.” This book takes place during the Depression era, and it talks about how a group of courageous women banded together to deliver books. They were a great source of hope- and learning during a difficult time. I’ll let you know how I end up liking it.

The book I’m reading for work is Scott Sonenshein’s “Stretch.” We have a book club at work, and this is one of the reads. It provides some powerful advice for doing more with less and empowers you to find creative ways to stretch your boundaries. I’m moving through this one slowly, but I’ll let you know my thoughts when I’m done!

I have something fun planned tonight, and I’m so glad it didn’t get canceled. I’ll be back to share tomorrow.
