Our weekend in St. Louis

Garon Fam

Remember my post last week about our friends in St. Louis? Well, Aaron and I decided it was time to visit them this past weekend. Sara, Aaron and I had been keeping our visit a secret from Brent so we could surprise him. And, we pulled it off!

Southwest flight

Aaron and I flew out of Houston early Friday morning. We flew Southwest, and they are no longer leaving their middle seats open, but our flight was not crowded at all, so Aaron and I had the whole row to ourselves!

packing | St. Louis

If you know anything about you, you know that I’m a last-minute packer. And, that rang true this time around also. I’ve gotten pretty good at condensing my things into one carry-on, but I’m not so great at packing super far ahead. I am who I am.

Because I have never recapped our very first trip to St. Louis several years ago, we did, in fact, go see the Arch several years ago. We rode up in this tiny little car (so not recommend if you are claustrophobic) and go to see the views from the very top of the Arch.

The surprise

Back to the surprise. Sarah picked us up from the airport, and we went straight to the dealership to surprise Brent. We pulled it off, and he was super surprised. After the surprise, we made it back to the house so we could see their two kiddos. I missed them so much. Now, I talk to them on the phone several times during the year, and we send fun videos back and forth. But, it’s so fun to see them in person. The baby is at such a fun age!

I think he remembered me! The last time I saw him, he was about four months old 🙂

Aaron missed him too!

We had a casual night in on Friday night, catching up and playing some games! We got very into Spades on this trip.

And then on Saturday, we hung out around the house, played with the kids and we had reservations on Kreis’ Steakhouse for dinner that evening. We dropped the kiddos off with Sara’s parents, and we were on our way. We had toasted raviolis (always a must when we visit), and I had the halibut for my entree. So good!

We got up on Sunday, played with the kiddos, played some more games, and then, it was time to head out for the airport. It was super cold during our visit, and I was hoping it might snow, but I was out of luck. But, when we were driving to the airport, tiny little snowflakes started falling.

Even though it was a short trip, I am so thankful we go to see our friends. I love doing life with our friends near and far, and I am so very thankful for our people after spending a year apart.

I also missed this sweet sweet old man, and I’m lucky to have one of the best dog-sitters in Houston who stays at our house to love on our pups whenever we are gone.
