Weekend Wrap-up+Pumpkin Carving Party

I hope you are starting your Monday morning off feeling relaxed and ready to take on the week. Aaron and I had ourselves a weekend! Can I have one more day, please? It’s no surprise that I like to be busy. I’m not one to really sit down a ton, and I wish that I were. This weekend was filled with work, date night, fall decorating and our annual pumpkin carving party. So, let’s get right into it!

Friday

I had a bad day on Friday. I’ll just go right ahead and admit it. I had a T-O-N of things on my plate for work, and I just didn’t have enough time to get through them all. I found myself working until about 6:30, and I my eyes were hurting from staring at the computer screen all day. I didn’t get to get up and walk – or any of those other things I like to preach about. I was grumpy – and mentally tired from using my brain all dang day. So, my husband and I decided to do date night to get me out of my funk.

I love a good scary movie, and we love to go to Studio Movie Grill. So, we decided to go see Halloween Kills. Are we sophisticated cinemaphiles? No ma’am. Was the movie any good? Not too much. But we had a good time. I had a glass of wine (maybe two), and we made tied a bow on the tope of my not-so-fabulous Friday.

Saturday

I started my morning off with a coffee out of my Halloween mugs (from Pottery Barn several years ago – they don’t have spiders, but they have ghosts now), and a breakfast taco.

After that, we took the Spuds on a walk. The fall front did make it’s way to Houston, and this was the best weather we’ve had in 2021. It wasn’t humid, and it was just under 70 degree.

Then, Poor Cali girl hasn’t been feeling well. I don’t know if she has an allergy to chicken, which is in her food and super common in golden retrievers, or if she ate something she shouldn’t. But, we can’t get her GI distress under control, so we headed to the vet to pick up some probiotics – and some other meds to help. Fingers crossed this does the trick.

After the vet, I had to work some more, and I did a quick workout before we headed off to our annual pumpkin carving party.

Pumpkin Carving Party

This is a tradition I look forward to every year, and this year was extra special because one of our friend’s has a baby girl on the way who will no doubt join us next year.

Love these ladies!!! I’ve known my friend immediately to my left since we were sophomores at Baylor University. We were roommates my junior and senior year, and we still are good friends to this day.

The other two are also Baylor friends, we didn’t know each other at Baylor. That was my pumpkin above. I tried to stencil, but ended up having to freehand at the end. He’s not my best work, but it was fun to try!

I thought my friend’s ghost pumpkin was cute. And here are some of the others.

You can read all about Pumpkin Carving parties of years past here. We called it a night relatively early so we could get home to the pups.

Sunday

Cali was sick kind of all night on Saturday after the party, so Aaron and I were exhausted, and we needed to stay put on Sunday to watch her. We watched church online, and it was a great opportunity to get our house decorated for Halloween and fall. Here’s a sneak peek.

We ended our evening with another scary movie: Insidious 2! I’m such a sucker for a good Halloween movie. I hope you all have a wonderful week. I have this Friday off for something fun, so it’s a short, but full, week for me.
