What I’m looking forward to+Nursery sneak peek

house of noa

Happy Wednesday! Life lately has been pretty good. Big picture, Aaron and I are working on a lot of things in the background like trying to decide on childcare when I am done with maternity leave, working on a list of invitees to our baby shower, registering for baby items and trying to figure out our nursery situation. It can be overwhelming at times, but I thankful to be in this stage of life. I thrive off having a lot of items on my plate, and this has been no exception.

My mom and my cousin are flying in for my baby shower at the end of February, and they are staying at our house, so Aaron and I have decided to wait on doing anything nursery-wise until March. It stresses me out a bit if I’m being honest, but it can wait a bit. We do know that one of our guest rooms is going away, and it’s probably this one.

But, since we love the furniture in this one, we are moving this furniture into our other guest bedroom, and we will store that furniture. Our nursery furniture is almost identical in color to this bedroom set.

Nursery sneak peek

We have purchased our nursery furniture, with the exception of a glider. I’ve got it currently stored in our garage until we are ready to put it together in the house. I’m not going with a theme, but I am going with themed colors. We are doing grays, tans, whites and neutrals – with a hint of blue sprinkled in. I want this room to be able to grow with our baby. The furniture was a bit of a splurge!

We snagged this adorable rocker!

We went with a storage, conversion crib. So at some point, it can be converted into a toddler bed if we want. And this is what we went with for our dresser/changing table.

And, we also grabbed these paper mache pieces for the walls. We have an elephant, a giraffe, a rhino and a zebra.

That’s about as far as I’ve made it nursery-wise. I’ve also been eyeing this House of Noa playmat that I’m thinking to use in place of a rug. I like the idea that it’s padded – and can easily be sanitized. The jury is still out, but I’m 99% sure this is going to end up in our nursery.

We haven’t chosen curtain colors or sheets or anything like that, but I feel like this is decent progress in the right direction. At least that’s what I keep telling myself. Aaron and I are going to go this weekend to choose a glider so it can arrive in time because I know that’s one piece of furniture I’ll want to use right away. I’ll keep you updated as I make some more official progress on the nursery.

Life lately

I feel like I’ve got some limited time to enjoy certain things before our world gets turned upside down. So, I’ve been putting things on the calendar that I can look forward to. Here are a few items on my list.

Prenatal massage

For Christmas, Aaron got me a prenatal massage, and I’ll be using it here in the next couple of weeks. I’ve been having some lower back pain, and a massage sounds really great right about now.

Ornament Exchange

ornament exchange

We haven’t done our 2022 ornament exchange, but we’ve got it on the calendar for a Saturday in January. I grabbed these ornaments back in September while I was in Waco, and they are really cute. I can’t wait to dole them out. Two of my best girlfriends and I have exchanged Baylor ornaments for as long as I can remember. So, we each have quite the collection.

Investiture

Andy

One of my other best friends was recently elected as judge, and her investiture is coming up in January. It’s been great to see her win this particular election, and I’m so proud of her for how hard she’s worked over this last year and half to make it happen. Her investiture – or public swearing in – will be a wonderful way to celebrate her success.

Ultrasound

baby announcement

Because I’m considered “advanced maternal age” (can we normalize that women are having babies older these days?), I get to see baby boy more often than I would if I were not in my mid-30’s. It’s a perk, my friends, and my insurance covers it. Oh, the joys of health care. So, later this week, I’ll get to see baby boy – and make sure he’s doing alright. I’ve also got that really fun glucose test that I’d like to get under my belt as well!

Reading

Signed Verity | Colleen Hoover

While I didn’t necessarily make a New Year’s resolution, I know that I wanted to slow down a bit. And part of that means taking time for myself to do some things that help quiet the mind a bit. Reading is that space for me. So, I decided to fully embrace this – and see what Verity is all about 🙂 Stay tuned – lots of my friends have some intense opinions about this one!

So, that’s what I’m looking forward to in January. Enjoy!
