Wednesday Randoms

Happy Wednesday! I hope that you’ve had a chance to check out all about our trip to Hilton Head. I’ve got the actual travel and hotel details in this post. I shared all about our activities in this post. And, I shared the other fun parts about the trip here. Long gone are the days of vacation. Can I go back here, please?

Hilton Head

In all seriousness, I’ve hit the ground running again for work. I’ve got a team retreat all day today that I’m really looking forward to. One of the best parts about my job is my team. We all genuinely enjoy each other, and we enjoy being in each other’s company. It’s rare for a team. But, we’ve gone through lots of transition over the last couple of months with my director leaving, and we’ve got a few kinks to work out today. So, our plan is to set up shop in a conference room and put our heads down to pave the way forward. Progress.

I warned you this post would be super random, but something that has been cracking me up this week are these little memes I’ve been seeing on social media. I finally found one that is accurate for me.

My husband hit his century run on the Peloton earlier this week, and I’m about 10 runs away from mine. That’s got me looking ahead to my next race. I love the 10K distance of 6.2 miles. It’s long enough where it’s a challenge, but it’s short enough where I can really push the pace. I’ve run the Austin Capitol 10K, and it’s one of my favorite races to run. I talked my friend, Sara, into running a 10K together, so we are searching for a fun one. We might want to do the 10K through St. Louis! Any good suggestions for a 10K race?

Nashville rock n roll half marathon

I’ve mentioned before that I’ve been a Brooks Glycerin fan since I ran my first race. I switched over to Hoka’s for the Nashville half, and I’ve been running in them since. However, it’s time for a new pair of running shoes, and I might switch back to the Glycerins. The Hoka’s are incredibly light with nice breathability, but I have found that the Glycerins have a bit more cushion. And, I’ve been dealing with some plantar fasciitis issues in my Hokas (but that could also be due to the fact that I’m ready for a new pair). Stay tuned, and I’ll keep you posted with what I decide to go with. P.S. my Theragun works fab for my plantar fasciitis.

This Week’s Menu

sun dried tomato chicken

This is kind of a laughable section this week. I’m surviving. We have puppy school, a team retreat, and we are fostering a dog this week. I was able to pull together my sun dried tomato chicken on Monday, and it was so delicious. It was a Chipotle kind of night last night because I worked late. And it will be a freezer meal of my vegetarian enchiladas tonight. I’m all about the quick, efficient and making it happen the best I can when life gets busy.

Foster Dog

If you are a frequent reader, you know that dogs have my heart. And, Aaron and I are in the thick of getting our puppies trained. We are trying to be as consistent as possible to make it happen. Our friend runs a pet rescue, and she is going out of town for a couple of days, so we agreed to foster. I am a tad worried that this will turn into a foster fail, but I’m also pretty confident I can’t handle three dogs at the moment – especially with two large puppies. I *am* confident that once my Spuds are older, I would like to foster dogs through our local golden retriever rescue get these sweet sweet dogs to a spot where they are ready for their forever homes. More on our foster later this week.

Well, I’m off early this morning for my retreat, but I hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday!
