Christmas has arrived at our new house + Home tour

I had so much fun decorating our new house this year. Nothing makes me more happy than putting on some Christmas music – and pulling out years of cherished memories packed away in my Christmas boxes. I’m here today with a Christmas home tour of our new home.

Since we are in a new house this Christmas, I got to find new spots for some of my most treasured Christmas decorations. It also meant that I was able to put out some items that I didn’t have space for in our previous home.

Entrance

We are still working on putting lights up outside of our house, but I have decorated my front porch. Since we have the double doors, I got to put two wreaths up. I picked up these faux holly wreaths at Target this year and attached them using my favorite command hooks!

I also ordered these pre-lit porch trees, and they should be arriving today.

I have this outdoor rug that I placed under my doormat, and I like the Buffalo Check pattern. It’s also washable. It’s super cheap – like right around $20.

Living Room-Christmas Home tour

(still need to add a topper)

I wasn’t sure if our artificial Christmas tree would fit in our new house. We had super high ceilings in our previous place, but our 7-foot tree looks great. I had to do a bit of rearranging to get it in that corner, but you can see it from our front door. I decided to go artificial after our second Christmas as a married couple. We purchased a live tree that was crooked the entire season because we couldn’t get it to set straight in our tree stand. We went artificial the year after.

Mantle | Christmas

As far as my mantle goes, I finally got my stockings monogrammed this year :). I’m super proud of myself because they have just been hanging up there – plain jane – for a good year. I always stick a strand of lights in my garland to make it festive, and the wooden house I bought in Salado with my mother-in-law. I also love to display the annual Taniguchi Gomez family Christmas cards of years past on my mantle.

Ornaments-Christmas Home Tour

Baylor ornaments

Now, I need to talk ornaments with you. I love seeing a beautifully decorated tree that is not cluttered with a ton of ornaments. But, that doesn’t happen in my house. One of my favorite traditions is an annual ornament exchange with two of my very best friends. We exchange Baylor or bear-related ornaments each year. We’ve been doing this for more than 10 years, and every year, I love pulling each of those ornaments out. It’s like Christmas morning for me. I love displaying each and every one of these special ornaments on my tree.

I’ve also picked up a few on my travels. These little ornaments came from my trip to Japan: it’s a wooden geisha and a samurai. I love reflecting on those moments and the trips and the people I was with when I got each of these ornaments.

Office

My office has it’s own dedicated Christmas corner. I have a mini tree and a yummy Christmas cookie candle. I also stuck a mini tree in the corner.

Dining room

I am so excited to be decorating a formal dining room. I purchased a skinny, 6-foot flocked tree to put in the corner. The ornaments on this tree were given to us as a wedding gift. Each ornament symbolizes something special: whether it’s a “house ornament” that symbolizes security or a “goldfish ornament” that symbolizes good luck. My mom gave me these ornaments, and I’m so happy to final have a spot for them.

My ceramic oragami nativity set it another cherished Christmas piece that I own. This was the first year that I’ve been able to put it out, but I’ve owned it since our first Christmas as a married couple in 2016. It’s so fragile that I wanted to be able to display it somewhere where the dogs wouldn’t knock it over. Our new dining room table was the perfect spot. Here is a photo:

Kitchen

I didn’t get too wild with my decorations in our informal dining area/kitchen space. (I’m not sure I’ve ever shown you guys this space). I added some bows and some Christmas figurines and called it a day. I might buy some red sprigs to stick in my vases – or add some Christmas balls to the bowl. Stay tuned.

Nativity Set

And last, but certainly not least, is this nativity set passed on to me by my grandma. She moved last year and was trying to give away her nativity sets that she collected throughout the years. I was lucky enough to get one (we have a huge family on my mom’s side), and I was able to display it this year.

That’s all I have for you today, but I hope you enjoyed my Christmas home tour as much as I enjoyed putting it all together this year. Enjoy your week.
