The Bachelorette Recap: Week 4

The Bachelorette

I’ve been tuning into The Bachelorette over the last couple of weeks, but watching the recordings due to the World Series. I also really don’t like recapping when there are a million contestants who we don’t really know. But, I’m back for week 4! This week starts off with a group date and two one on one dates. Martin gets the first one on one date. He’s a personal trainer from Miami, Florida.

1:1 Date with Martin

THE BACHELORETTE – ABC/Craig Sjodin

This date takes place at the BMW performance center. Michelle picked him for this date because she has him pegged as a bit of an adrenaline junkie, but Michelle beats him on the race track. And, because this is the Bachelorette, this date would not be complete without the random hot tub in the middle of what looks like a garage. The date kind of seems to unravel when Martin starts to question Michelle’s reasoning behind sending a contestant home last week. Martin – be better! Things take a turn for the better on the evening portion of the date, and Michelle gives Martin a rose.

Slumber Party group date

THE BACHELORETTE – ABC/Craig Sjodin

Next up, we’ve got a slumber party group date. There are really too many men to keep up with on this date, but I’ll give it a shot. We’ve got the Bella Twins, we’ve got 12 of Michelle’s men. Who has your favorite pj’s? I’m torn between the blue silk robe (which I 100% would wear for myself and the guy wearing it 100% looks like Dax Shepherd) or the black, silk two piece lounge set (which I would also wear). Props to the guy who recreated the Tom Cruise a la Risky Business. On a side note, I love Michelle’s pj’s – where can I get some?

The slumber party vibe consumes the men and they kind of forget to even talk to Michelle. The Bella twins arrive to have the men compete in a Teddy Bear Takedown. The winners get to go to the after party with Michelle. Still, the men miss the opportunity to celebrate with Michelle – she doesn’t feel seen. She finally addresses her feelings with the winning group. You can tell that the men really do respect her, which sort of sets this group of men apart from past seasons. I appreciate that she speaks her mind with each of the men – she’s a woman who knows what she wants, and she isn’t going to settle.

Let’s take a moment and talk about her conversation with Olu. He was very affected by the way Michelle was feeling because he’s seen his sisters go through the same thing. It was really sweet to watch him validate her feelings and to be so vulnerable with her. Olu receives the group date rose. Props to him!

1:1 date with Rick

THE BACHELORETTE – ABC/Craig Sjodin

So for those of you who haven’t seen any of the episodes, Rick showed up on episode 1 with his head on a silver platter (literally). He was tucked into a catering cart for God knows how many hours, and he clearly made an impression. Rick and Michelle take the gondola up to the top of the mountain and just hang out in nature. Nothing extravagant, and one of the dates that most closely mimics life in the real world. Rick is able to open up and share some of his experiences from the past. Rick gets a rose.

Cocktail party

THE BACHELORETTE – ABC/Craig Sjodin

Sigh. Before the cocktail party can even begin, Chris (our friend in the Risky Business pj’s) addresses the men by telling them that they all need to step up. It doesn’t sit well with the group, and the drama ensues. Chris should have read the Bachelorette playbook – it never works out well to throw other men under the bus. Things start heating up when Chris mentions that Nayte thinks he’s got this whole thing in the bag.

Nayte pulls Chris aside, and they are going to have to agree to disagree. Even the mathematician is shook. Chris really riled the men up. It’s time for Michelle to give out the roses, and all of the men are hoping that Chris gets sent home. Here’s who got a rose this week:

  • Brandon
  • Leroy
  • Joe
  • Rodney
  • Clayton
  • Casey
  • Nayte
  • Chris S.

Next week, they head to Minnesota!
